Sexual violence against the female gender is a common occurrence in the world especially Nigeria. Oftentimes, a lot of rape cases are unreported, the reported ones are sometimes swept under the carpets and victims are often treated badly because the decided to speak up and share their stories. The world have cultivated the habits of seeing rape victims as less human, hence, some victims decide to keep mute about their ordeal.
Men also get raped, but it is not a common occurrence in this part of the world, the common rape cases that are recorded is that of men raping women. Years back, a man will be compelled to marry a lady if he rapes her, not putting the feelings of the lady into consideration. In recent times, a woman is blamed for being raped. The world tries to find reasons why she should be guilty of the act, either by asking her if her dress is seductive or she's walking during odd hours etc. Also, when she tries to report the incident to security agencies, she'd be advised to keep quiet and let it go.

Sometimes ago I saw a post about rape on social media and the topic of discussion focused on if there's any justification for rape. Most of the commenters on the blog were men and some of the them give reasons to justify rape. A young man said women who wear skimpy dress that reveal sensitive parts of their body are seductive and it could make a man want to have his way. Another young man said he will rape a woman if he has spent a lot on her and she refuses to allow him have sex with her. The ladies, due to reasons best known to them didn't really comment, probably due to what the world would say about them.
In my honest opinion, I don't think there is any reason to justify rape. It's a criminal act and it should be treated as such. You don't forcefully have sex with a woman because of the way she dress, or because she's your wife and she's not in the mood. Respect every woman you come across and do not treat them as trash.
There are government agencies and Nongovernmental agencies (NGOs) that have been advocating for the girl child and making provisions to assist rape victims mentally and make sure the rapists are brought to book.
