Ritual to predict the rainy months in the new year: Las Cabañuelas

One of the oldest concerns of humanity is to be able to know in advance the climatic phenomena. Know when it will rain, if it will be sunny, if there will be a lot of rain, if it will snow, blizzards, storms, hailstorms, etc.; and this is absolutely understandable, since many of the human activities are conditioned by the climate. From agriculture, livestock, through fishing, hunting, mineral extraction, and stop counting, the climate will always determine to a large extent, how, when and where productive activities and of another nature will be carried out.

In the case of people who depend on the countryside, that is, who live from crops, this dependency increases, because the cycles of rain, sun, etc.; they will determine the success or failure of your crops; For this reason, many cultures have created rituals for the prediction, invocation, or stoppage of rain. Today we will talk about a prediction ritual, which I believe is used in much of Latin America and Spain. This is Las Cabañuelas.

I have always been interested in learning about this ritual, but the times I found someone who knew it, the knowledge was "elusive" and they did not want to share it with me; However, on December 31, I received a call from an old friend, and she told me that her mother, who is a 90-year-old peasant woman, was at her house and was going to do this ritual, and since she knew that I wanted to learn it, I asked him and he gave me the instructions; for which I was extremely grateful, because I know that this lady has always used Las Cabañuelas to know when to plant and what to plant.

This ritual is done every December 31 before midnight, so when I finished the call, I got ready to do it, it was 9:00 p.m. approximately. It is a simple ritual, but those who have practiced it for decades say that it is very effective. I don't know if my prediction will be correct or not, I will know in 12 months; however, I wanted to share this ritual with everyone, as it is a very old knowledge that has been lost over the years. That being said, let's go for it.

THE MATERIALS

Salt, I used common salt, table salt, (approximately 50 grams).
A wooden board or table where to place Las Cabañuelas.

THE PROCEDURE

I am going to repeat what I say in each ritual post: If you do this process with your faith, intention and attention focused on the goal of the ritual, it will have an effect; if you do it without these three elements, you will only be doing something empty, mechanical and useless.

You will do the following: On the night of December 31, before midnight, you will proceed to take a board, preferably long, but if you don't have it, it doesn't matter, you can use a round, square, rectangular one, whatever you have.
You will take the salt and make small piles on the table, of course in sequential order, because each pile represents a month of the year. Thus, when you place the first pile you say, “this is the month of January 202_” and so on, until you complete the twelve months of the year you want to predict.
It is important to place the salt in order, because that way you will be able to identify which month will be rainy and which will be dry.
If you have the possibility, carefully place the board or table outdoors, so that it receives the year-end dew directly from heaven. If it is raining, or it is not possible for you, it does not matter, you leave it under cover, inside the place where you are.
The next morning, as soon as the sun rises, before the hot sun, you take the table and proceed to read it.
The reading consists of determining which of the little piles of salt (months) is wet. The pile of salt that is wet will indicate that it will rain in that month. The one that is dry indicates that the month will be dry.
After reading Las Cabañuelas, you proceed to deposit the salt in a green area, it can be the garden or patio of your house, or in a pot and thank the Universe for the information.

THE RESULTS

In my case, and for Venezuela, the results I obtained for months of rain are the following:

March 2023: Very little rain, scarce.
June, September, October and November. The rain will not be abundant.

Ritual para predecir los meses de lluvia en el nuevo año: Las Cabañuelas

Una de las preocupaciones más antiguas de la humanidad, es poder conocer con antelación los fenómenos climáticos. Saber cuándo lloverá, si habrá sol, si habrá mucha lluvia, si nevará, ocurrirán ventiscas, tormentas, granizadas, etc.; y esto es absolutamente comprensible, ya que muchas de las actividades humanas se ven condicionadas por el clima. Desde la agricultura, la ganadería, pasando por la pesca, la caza, la extracción de minerales, y pare usted de contar, siempre el clima determinará en gran medida, cómo, cuándo y en dónde se realizarán actividades productivas y de otra naturaleza.

En el caso de las personas que dependen del campo, es decir, que viven de las siembras, esta dependencia se incrementa, porque los ciclos de lluvia, sol, etc.; determinarán el éxito o el fracaso de sus cultivos; por ello en muchas culturas se han creado rituales de predicción, invocación, o detención de lluvias. Hoy hablaremos de un ritual de predicción, el cual creo que se usa en gran parte de América Latina y de España. Se trata de Las Cabañuelas.

Siempre estuve interesada en conocer este ritual, pero las veces que dí con alguien que lo conociera, el conocimiento se les hacía “esquivo” y no quisieron compartirlo conmigo; sin embargo, el pasado 31 de Diciembre, recibí una llamada de una vieja amiga, y ella me indicó que su mamá, quien es una señora campesina de 90 años, estaba en su casa e iba a hacer este ritual, y como ella sabía que yo quería aprenderlo, le preguntó y me dio las indicaciones; lo cual agradecí enormemente, pues sé que esta señora siempre ha utilizado a Las Cabañuelas para saber cuándo sembrar y qué sembrar.

Este ritual se hace cada 31 de Diciembre antes de las medianoche, por lo que yo, al finalizar la llamada, me dispuse a hacerlo, eran las 9:00 p.m. aproximadamente. Es un ritual sencillo, pero dicen quienes lo han practicado por décadas, que es muy efectivo. No sé si mi predicción será acertada o no, lo sabré en 12 meses; sin embargo, quise compartir este ritual con todos, pues es un conocimiento muy antiguo que se ha ido perdiendo con el paso de los años. Dicho esto, vamos por él.

LOS MATERIALES

Sal, yo utilicé sal común, sal de mesa, (aproximadamente 50 gramos).
Una tabla o mesa de madera en donde colocar Las Cabañuelas.

PROCEDIMIENTO

Voy a repetir lo que digo en cada post de ritual: Si este proceso lo haces con tu fe, intención y atención puestas en el objetivo del ritual, tendrá efecto; si lo haces sin estos tres elementos, sólo estarás haciendo algo vacuo, mecánico y sin utilidad.

Harás lo siguiente: La noche del 31 de Diciembre, antes de la media noche, procederás a tomar una tabla, de preferencia larga, pero si no tienes, no importa, puedes usar una redonda, cuadrada, rectangular, la que dispongas.
Tomarás la sal y harás pequeños montoncitos en la tabla, claro con orden secuencial, porque cada montón representa un mes del año. Así, cuando colocas el primer montón dices, “este es el mes de Enero de 202_” y así sucesivamente, hasta completar los doce meses del año que quieres predecir.
Es importante colocar en orden la sal, porque así podrás identificar qué mes será de lluvia y cuál de sequía.
Si tienes la posibilidad, colocas con cuidado la tabla o la mesa a la intemperie, para que reciba el rocío de fin de año directamente del cielo. Si está lloviendo, o no te es posible, no importa, la dejas a cubierto, en el interior del sitio en donde estés.
A la mañana siguiente, apenas amanezca, antes de que el Sol caliente, tomas la tabla y procedes a leerla.
La lectura consiste en determinar cuál de los montoncitos de sal (meses) está húmedo. El montón de sal que esté húmedo indicará que en ese mes lloverá. Aquel que esté seco, señala que el mes será de sequía.
Luego de leer Las Cabañuelas, procedes a depositar la sal en un área verde, puede ser el jardín o patio de tu casa, o en una maceta y agradeces por la información al Universo..

LOS RESULTADOS

En mi caso, y para Venezuela, los resultados que obtuve para meses de lluvia, son los siguientes:

Marzo 2023: Muy poca lluvia, escasa.
Junio, Septiembre, Octubre y Noviembre. No será abundante la lluvia.
