A Traditional Sport: The Bull Race in West Bali

Hello eveyone, blurtians. I would like to share my experience and photos during my trip to Tuwed village watching for traditional sport: the bull race.

Every two weeks there is a race event in the different village in West Bali,(where I live). The final, or grand event would be held in November 2022.

As one of a traditional event, the race was very popular among the villagers. The bull race was originated long time ago, when most of us work as farmers. Every harvest time, the farmers used bull cart to carry their harvest from the rice farm to their home. They would race with the other farmers to get home the fastest.

That was the origin of the bull race.

Nowadays, the bull race still attracted many people, including kids and youngsters. When I went to the race, a lot of family with little children came to watch.

The bull race was held in a circuit located in the middle of rice fields. They would race on a dirt road in the middle of rice farm. And along the dirt road, people gathered watching the race. They wanted to support their team;

It was fun to watch the race. The bulls "dressed" beautifully with crowns on their heads and other accessories.

At the midday, the competition was finished. It would then continued in two weeks time in different village.
