Hi Blurtians,
In this post, we'll be taking a closer look at the Blurt blockchain data for the month of January 2023, compared to the months of December and November 2022, following the success of the previous similar analysis.
We'll start by looking at the big picture and exploring the general trends of the Blurt blockchain, something that I omitted in the last post on this topic.
Each month, the witnesses of the Blurt blockchain - the block producers - are responsible for creating 864,000 blocks. The witnesses are elected by the community through voting so you can show your support by casting your vote at https://beblurt.com/witnesses to give a better ranking to your favorite witness(es) ;)
In January, the witnesses' blocks recorded 281,238 transactions and 299,164 operations (with one transaction potentially containing multiple operations), as well as 5,212,443 virtual operations.
Virtual operations refer to operations generated by the blockchain itself, such as the distribution of rewards, the release of BLURT after a Power Down, the funding of DAO proposals, and so on.
I think we will find the answer to the contradiction between the increase in operations and the decrease in virtual operations by continuing our analysis.
Posts & Replies
Let's get to the heart of the matter! Were there more or less posts this January 2023? Was there more or less engagement through comments?
In January 2023, we recorded 14,563 posts, a small increase from the numbers in December and November. Although this number is still below the 16,468 posts recorded in October, it's worth noting that a change in the functioning mode of the @blurtbooster account was expected to result in a sharp decrease. The fact that this didn't happen is a positive sign for the future!
It is pleasing to also see a rising engagement rate through comments with 14,389 comments, a thousand better than in December and a hundred more than in November. Once again, however, we remain below October and its 18,066 comments.
The low engagement rate in commenting on posts remains a major weakness of Blurt, both in terms of readers and some authors who do not even respond to the comments they receive.
Authors
What about the number of unique authors on the Blurt blockchain? As the graph shows, the number has risen to 909, which is 48 more than last month and almost equivalent to November's 905. To recall, it was 1012 in October.
Authors Rewards
Regarding the authors' rewards, there is a decrease of about 70,000 BLURT compared to the previous month.
This month's Top 5 authors (in rewards) are:
- 26,799.527 BLURT : [@]offgridlife with 404 posts & replies
- 20,759.225 BLURT : [@]hangin with 135 posts & replies
- 17,787.245 BLURT : [@]drutter with 160 posts & replies
- 16,661.814 BLURT : [@]andrianna with 68 posts & replies
- 14,446.374 BLURT : [@]cleanenergygarro with 259 posts & replies
[@]drutter gains 2 places while [@]cleanenergygarro enters the ranking.
For the results of the previous months you can consult them in the post: The data of the Blurt Blockchain | Part 2
Curators Rewards
Regarding curation, we observe the same decrease in proportions as for authors, which is logical being related.
(New) This month's Top 5 curators (in rewards) are:
- 287,015.816 BLURT : [@]blurtbooster with 3904 upvotes
- 163,348.368 BLURT : [@]upvu with 1841 upvotes
- 128,056.998 BLURT : [@]ctime with 9282 upvotes
- 43,521.802 BLURT : [@]mmmmkkkk311 with 803 upvotes
- 24,957.198 BLURT : [@]saboin with 619 upvotes
[@]mariuszkarowski sticking [@]saboin with 500 BLURT difference.
Beneficiaries Rewards
This graph shows an increase for Blurtribe but also for the amount of BLURT from the reward that is burned (sent to @null account).
Frontends / dApps
Regarding frontends, Blurt, Actifit, and Dtube have no significant variation, Blurtlatam shows a nice improvement from 923 posts in November to 1358 posts this month and BeBlurt makes its debut. More info on the evolution of BeBlurt in January can be found in this post: The progress of BEBLURT application.
New Accounts
As for the number of new accounts created on the Blurt blockchain, it continues its progression even compared to October when there were 74. For the month of January 114 new accounts have been created.
Power Up / Down
While the amount of Power Down remains constant at 3,000,000 BLURT the amount of Powers Up has significantly decreased to 1,859,724 BLURT in January. Please note that the amount taken into consideration for the Power Down is the amount really received (virtual operation "fill_vesting_withdraw") and not the amount requested when asking to Power Down.
Transfer from & to Exchanges
This month was marked by a strong imbalance between transfers from exchanges to Blurt accounts and vice versa on Hive-Engine with a negative Delta of 2,000,000 BLURT.
Last word
This is finally the end of this post for which I would have spent way too much time, I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments ;)

I’m going back to Facebook.
Bye.
Hivewatchers has infiltrated this place.
This is FUD lol
FUD or FOMO ??? Lol
Don’t believe the hype.
Thanks for buying up all the cheap Blurt buddy.
You are Public Enemy #1 here on Blurt. 🎯
fear, uncertainty, doubt
Cheap Blurt will be flushed out of the system.
no, just calculate how much they make from curation, they will keep selling and will never run out of BLURT, we are in the trap
cooperation and encouragement from many BLURT owners is needed.
Thank @nalexadre. You made me understand Blurt a lot more. Have a nice day ✨
Thanks :) I'm glad you found this information helpful
👍👍👍
Congratulations to @cleanenergygarro … way to go buddy.
I love your engagement on here … with 259 posts & replies
Excellent work by @hangin ….. 20,759.225 BLURT @hangin with 135 posts & replies incredible Photography.
Thank you for the data and analysis!
I see that we are still trending down in content, although up from the expected dip in December as many people took time away with family. Hopefully we get back to October levels, and then beyond, very soon.
17,787.245 BLURT : [@]drutter with 160 posts & replies
Wow, 3rd place in payouts. I take my content very seriously, and hope that I have truly earned such a large portion of the reward pool. My goal is to reach the level of 1 million BP in 2023. My plan is to continue to create high-quality original content that people find useful and valuable.
Amazing to see andrianna in 4th place for total payouts on this blockchain, considering she doesn't engage or support anyone else's content, does not vote, does not reply to questions, and only comments when attempting to enter a contest for free BLURT. Not exactly a team player here on Blurt, but people seem to like voting her crossposted content very highly.
Why is the @ in brackets? This stops it from functioning as a link to the person's profile (and prevents notifications). If you want to say someone's name without notifying them and without creating a link to their profile, you can simply drop the @ symbol.
Respect to the large curators who vote based on quality; saboin, mk, and ctime.
Good job on reaching 3rd place in payouts and congratulations on taking your content seriously! It's great to see that your goal is to reach 1 million BP in 2023 👍
I would be curious to know the answer too
I indeed did it to avoid spamming the notifications of the mentioned people, and I kept the @ (in brackets) for those not yet familiar with Blurt, so that they understand it is referring to usernames.
Thanks! And I'm actually 2nd place in payouts, if you don't count users who buy their way onto the list ;D
Keep up the good data collection. Let's hope to see things really pick up in 2023.
Hi, this is great information, an overview of what has happened this month with Blurt that gives us the big picture. Thanks for the time you take in preparing this post.
I am trying to log in to BeBlurt, however, after I approve the transaction in Whale Vault, nothing happens, I can't log in Any idea what it could be?
Thanks in advance for your attention.
Hi @syllem, thanks for you feedback, I'm glad you found this information helpful in getting an overview of what happened this month with Blurt.
I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing while trying to log into BeBlurt. Thank you for informing me about it. After analyze it seems to be a bug introduced during the latest update which block the refresh of the logging status after WhaleVault's response. Usually, refreshing the page should resolve the issue. I'm actively working on a fix and I will keep you updated as soon as it is available and live later today.
Thanks for responding, good to know you are working on a solution.
Regards 🤗
There is a huge gap between blurt transfers from wallets to exchanges. And also happy to see the increment of newcomers' accounts in January.
Take a look at the dashboard to these account https://beblurt.com/@shahzad01 & https://beblurt.com/@alikhan9700 will give you an explanation. For most of the month the price of BLURT was much higher on Tribaldex than the other exchanges so a new business opportunity is born hahaha.
Oh... they are doing another business there. I didn't even think about that.😅
I am not sure if they are exact accounts or related, but we added many acccouts related to them in coal.
Thanks for the info 👍
The increase in the number of posts is directly proportional to the increasing price of Blurt. But still, engagement with comments is low. People don't understand that they can also earn from comments. Or maybe people want to spend their votes more on posts.
Though posts/comments yield the same rewards, people think they are different.
Nice analysis though.
Thanks for your comment @tekraze, I think some may also worry about spending fees to make a comment with no certainty of receiving a response and upvote on their comment, as a comment inherently has less visibility than a post, perhaps there is a lack of a curation group for comments on Blurt.
Aah yes. Fees is a thing but its way low for comments
There can be a curation group for comments only, that's a nice idea
Complete statistics @ nalexadre.
In another post I was asking @tekraze if they had developed any application to know -in a certain period- what my healing gains had been.
With all these statistics you have developed maybe you can give me the answer.
Thanks.
Yes, the stats on beblurt.com is good
For now, the Blurtian analytics dashboard (more info here: BEBLURT | Update v0.3.0 | Blurtian Analytics Dashboard) that is available on BeBlurt when you click on an account and go to the dashboard tab is limited to the last 3 weeks or 3 months but an update is planned to add a date picker to choose more periods.
Very detailed analysis, I love it. I know one of those things that makes engagement and post to increase is that my little contribution was part of it.
This month I have engaged more on post, consistent in posting and curating post too.
thanks for you feedback @olusolaemmanuel, keep it up ;)
I was geared to stepping up my game on blurt and this January has given me lots of reasons to.
I'm believing that sooner or later my name will also appear on this list showing my achievements.
Thanks so much for this data.
You're welcome @yateghteghs, looking forward to seeing your name in one of the next analyses ;)
Thank you for the mention @nalexadre had no idea what i was ranking that is very interesting to know....Cheers 👍
