Farmers as the main actors in agricultural development need to be empowered so that they are able to analyze existing problems and opportunities and find solutions according to their resources. Empowerment of the farming community is a concept developed to strengthen the independence of farmers.
The dimensions of empowerment of farming communities include increasing knowledge and abilities of farmers through counseling and training, developing business networks through cooperation, coordination and communication, and increasing the role of coaching through motivation, facilitation, and technical guidance.
Many factors also determine community empowerment in all aspects. Science is a science that also determines these aspects. The expected extension concept is one that is able to read the needs of the community.
Extension as a science cannot be separated from the requirements that must be maintained and developed (objects, systematics, methods and supports) in order to be able to place themselves in the midst of change and be able to answer questions that arise.
