Hello Blurtters,

Having a very good insight of what to plant in agricultural mindset is a very great deal which will bring more productivity and improvement to the farm as a whole throughout the season. I have been in so many shoes of planting which the experiences I add has been helping me to push me forward. There are some cases you are by I planted the seed but nothing came out even after 21 days of planting which is very rare. I have also planted some seeds in which just few about them germinated and grow extremely well. So the seed planting are interwoven and vice versa. Depending on which of the seed you plan to plant it will always grow very well when you have the right source of seed and the soil structure. When you also succeed in the seed planting the next action left for you is the natural weeding aspect of your crops. Until you do this regularly you will not see the very best part of your crops as individual farmer. But when you fully into agriculture, it would help a lot to survive and to also produce more food for myself and for the community. One of the most common crop you ever seen here even in the northern part of Nigeria is the okra plant. When you are traveling and you reach the northern part of Nigeria, you check the road sign as you move then you see a lot of okra plantation left and right. This is to show you that there are a lot of people consuming these particular produce. So Okra is a very special crop here in Nigeria. People consume it day in, day out. I also planted them in my own farm which are of different species and varieties although they are hybrid okra plants. When they reach the maturity stage they produce more flowers and also they bring out more branches for more production. I took some pictures of the okra plant.

  • Like I said earlier weeding your crops will make them to survive more and also to gain more ground to survive better. Not just to survive alone but also to be more productive. When you create more time for your Crops, you always will see the best in them as an output.

  • When I got to the farm I saw more to weed as part of the normal routine. So I decided to do the weeding manually. Manual weeding is always advisable because you will penetrate to the bottom of your crop individually. And you sort the weeds out slowly. The wedding should be done regularly in order to protect your crops, not just crop protection alone but improve every crop you plant.

  • This is the method I know from the time past, when you finish a particular weeding dimension what you need to do is to pack all the weeded portion of leaves, and then use it to mulch your already planted as it is shown below.

When you are planting okra you can also make your phone what is called mixed cropping. You can see that I have some other crops growing up even when okra.
