Hello Blurtters,
Why do we need to plant cassava?
In west African Nigeria and in some other part of the world cassava is the major source of income which brings better offer during the Farming season. and aside this we also have so many other products that can be gotten from cassava itself. Gone are the days when cassava flakes can be only gotten from cassava after planting and harvesting it. We have more of modernization nowadays. In this article I also show some step-by-step method of how I got started using creativity method of planting techniques.
- This was the cassava stem that I used for the planting. You must always identify that the type of cassava stem you planned to use is very healthy. This is the main active ingredients in farming. When your materials are up to date and it is well updated. You must also see that you have what is called a very good soil preparation. When you have this the planting of cassava is ready to go.
This is the Organic Manure that I also have a mind to add to the soil itself. in your own case you may not be opportuned to have this in your farm but yes you can go ahead and cultivate your cassava stem, it will also do best. But as for me I always more additional nutrients to the soil for a very long time planting and farming season.
This was also the mobile sack I used for the planting section. I went to source for poultry feed sack for planting. You can use any type of sack for this purpose it will surely do it work. So I even if I have more sack I'm going to use them all.
This was when the mixture of the soil began. You must also be ready to mix the soil combination thoroughly. Some previous planting I did the mixture of the soil was not properly mixed so I got a lot of challenges when the crop was going up. So I needed to fix it well.
The packing of the soil was first done, followed by the Organic manure, followed by the top layer of the soil. When you do the formulation ratio this way it will help a lot.
This was the former mobile sack used for planting different type of pepper during the previous year. So I intended using the search for this particular planting and also for the farm to be more tidy.
This was after the formulation of the soil was done thoroughly and I also double check on it. When this particular section is not well done then it will have more challenges because I've done it practically several times.
This was also the bag of the Organic manure. I have the Organic manure more in already bagged sack ready for usage.
This was the leftover cassava tuba that I saw when I was also rearranging the mobile sack for this particular planting time. What I did was that I intentionally used the leftover soil, so when I lifted up the mobile sack I saw the cassava tubers in there.
This was when I was also topping up the soil. My aim is to level up the ratio. And also add more because what I wanted to plant is a tuber crop which will go inside the soil. So I needed more soil to cover the top layer if I want to have a bountiful harvest.
Before you start planting your cassava stain you must always check the stain if it is very strong and healthy. I mean this because if it is not properly checked your effort will be at loss. You may run into a soil with termite. And the termite will consume your cassava stain within just 3 to 7 days. So you need to analyze it very well. This was how I checked. The first thing I did was to check the nodes around the step if they are absolutely upright.
In this case I also cut off the Excess cassava tuber leftover found on the stem before the planting was done.
So I used to the cutlass to make a home deep inside the mobile soil. There after I placed the cassava stem inside the soil with the nodes facing up the sun. If you alternate this method your cassava may not grow at all. So you need to let the cassava nodes face you.
This this was the leftover cassava stem so I managed to secure them on the same mobile sack.
This was after the whole cassava planting was done. Although what I did was also in a grand style, in the sense that I did not want the leftover cassava stem to get dried up. So I needed to keep it growing up before transplanting it into another mobile sack. And that was what I did. You can see them facing each other. Before you know it they will all start growing up.
You can also practice this type of method I did when you have a very big hip or ridges. But when your hips and reaches her too small you can just leave it on 1 cassava stem per hips and ridges.
This process is also needed so that they already planted cassava stem be equally boosted by the soil.
