The main purpose of putting this into an article writing is for us to understand what it means to always take part in day-to-day activity even with your children. There are sometimes when I go to the farm without the children but also once in a while I make it the point of duty to ensure that the visit the farm with me. This is to motivate them to choose wisely and also to learn that what they are that is doing is also a way to success. There are so many ways to kick off or to start this awesome ways of learning. Learning is a day-to-day assimilation of skills, knowledge, wisdom and also thought about life and nature. If you want to learn about animals and crop production it will always be day to day learning or you will always conclude that you know some particular aspect of farming whereas you need to update your knowledge. This was the main purpose of exposing the children into learning at the early stage of life.
Sometimes it may not be easy but when you start gradually you will always enjoy it as the grow up. Whenever we are on the farm it is all about questions always. Answering and as well as pointing out some leaves and green vegetable to grab their names. I love to experience more and more of this because I also learn more as day passes by. I also try as much as possible to expose my children to the reality of farming technique. You can also see them feeding the animals it is also part of the learning routine. I took this pictures while we were on the farm taking part in some physical application of Farm technique on how to treat the rabbit and feed them well.
- Getting started was in bit. I asked to put so many things in place before they got to the farm and I also prepared myself or so many questions and answers. These are what is expected of us as a parent or guardian. Teaching our children some ways by which will keep them moving on in life in terms of the career we do and our profession. It may look not too good to us as parent but with the little practical experiment that I conducted even with the children I observed a lot which brings a lot of good memories about what was being taught.
Children trying to learn is a very big deal because when we got to the farm immediately there was several questions from the kids such as, why do we use this weed to feed the rabbit? Can rabbit eat this particular one again? Why are they not eating it quickly? Let's try this Leaf for them? And so many questions that was asked but intentionally an non-intentionally.
While the questions was going on I also made it known to the children that there are so many plants or there are so many food that can be used as alternative to feed the rabbits or animals. So gradually I will expose them to more green vegetables or weed when the time comes.
There was more of smiling and smiling over and over and while we were on the farm. The kids were extremely happy and excited to be on the farm too.
I took them through this process whereby they will uproot the weed or cut it averagely, then leave it for some few minutes before handing it over to the rabbit. For every step you take in agricultural mindset there is always a reason for it. So likewise I explained everything to them although the children memory may not carry it all at this point but at some point they will always remember slightly then put it into practice again.
This was when the finally sorted out the weed which took a lot of time before it was finalized. I made mention of something while the fetching of the late was going on and it was that the weed should be fetch one after the other so that there will not be any mixture of the weed with any other harmful animals or insect. And it was done properly well with supervision.
Before now what really happened was that the children always watch me feed the rabbit not only the rabbit is alone, but the other animals as well such as chicken and dogs. So the inspiration was always there to come up to the farm to feed the animals. So I intentionally carried them to the farm to take part in this field practically.
