Hello Blurtters,
Nowadays in agriculture we have different types of sections which will always bring profit to our table as individual farmer and person. The aim and objective of every farmer is to see that what you are rearing as animals are productive not just production alone but they are also living healthy. No matter the cost of feeding you must ensure that they feed regularly and their consumption rate is not too low.
There is one thing called feed ration in agriculture. We may have different meaning of this but as for me it means when you partially give your animals feed or food in a minute quantity so that you will be able to adjust and maintain a particular type of feed. This is always in occurrent when you are not financially stable or when the feed prices is high then this type of method can be recommended. In animal keeping you are entitled to feed your animals three times or more in a day and this is why most farmers do not engage in animal keeping. Animal keeping is one of the aspect in agriculture that you need to sacrifice a lot so that your reward has a farmer will come to a very good recommendation. When you partially feed your animals it will tell in their growth and development which also will tell in the production.
When you have poultry birds and you do not really cater for them it will in So many Ways backfire and their production will be retarded. In agriculture you must think twice and get into your drawing board before you jump into conclusion so that it will favor a lot of factors. By the time you do a lot of calculation over and over again it will give a very open financial insight on what you want to do. In other words you need to calculate extremely well so that you will not jump into any type of animal keeping and regret within 2 months or more. We have different types of Turkey birds breeds. Which are common in west African Nigeria more also there are hybrid breed which are imported and transported into the country. So it is on purpose. But we have several local breeds that are seen here and there. On this one this is not a full hybrid Turkey birds π¦π¦π¦. But it is also relevant. Some pictures of Ben when I visited the farm. The animal section.
- Just in other animals as well. In Nigeria it is hard for you to see a full grown hybrid breed of animal but we only have mixed breed. And this is why sometimes the prices of the animals are friendly because they are not full breed. But there's some cases where you see a very full breed animal it is almost three times it original price. So most people do not really jump into the full breed.
The full breed is always used as the parent stock in any farm. So the farm will make a request for them from another country and ship them in into their own country just like and Nigeria as well. If you do not want to secure the parent stock you can as well go for the mix breed. They are always great. The only thing is that you must have a lot of concentrate feed and a good housing for them.
When you are a very good housing or pen, did you help you to secure the future of your farm birds. I've seen a case whereby the farmer but so many birds at a time. But the space were not big enough. Within a short period of time they birds start to fall sick gradually. Before the owner of the farm cool realized that what happened May cost the whole Farm. That was how my former colleague lost almost half of is poultry birds to different Farm diseases.
I love to see them when they are very small, although most farmers do not go for a day old chick π£π£. They can easily die off.
- Like I said earlier a very good housing will be the best to secure them from predators and to give them a very good ventilation. One thing about the turkey bird is that you need to raise them where a lot of ventilation can be seen. Because of their feathers.
Good feeding routine must also be recommended. The feeding trough, the drinking trough must be washed thoroughly everyday. When you want to change their water you must make sure that it is extremely clean because of water pollution.
For the foreign Turkey Bird or the hybrid. They use 6 months or 7 months to reach their maturity state depending on how you feed them. If you do not feed them regularly it may naturally extend to 12 months. There are some cases whereby you intentionally leave them to roam about the farm or the street. They will spend up to 12 months or more before they can be called a full grown adult turkey π¦π¦ birds.
