This is a visitation to a farm where we have a mix crop practicing system which is also a norm here in west African Nigeria. The practice has been an ancient practice whereby you plant different types of Crops on the same piece of land. You can plant cassava with okra or pepper with green vegetables and sweet potato with maize 🌽🌽. So you can easily see people alternating different type of crops and it will surely grow at the same time but when it comes to the harvesting. One of the crop will do more faster than the other. That is the essence of giving your best when it comes to the mix cropping system.
When I visited the farm it was more like Mint farm wait turmeric plants makes cropping system. I like the arrangement of the farm and it gives me more motivation to use every alternative of planting to utilize it well. Although there are some crops that can never be mixed. They cannot survive using this method of practices. When you plant them you leave them to grow up to be harvested. And that is all. I took the pictures of the mint plants and I also asked a lot of questions if I want to go into this type of farming. What and what will cost me. You can see in the pictures that it is spreading crop. The spreading crop in the sense that when you plant just a single stand, within a period of weeks it will multiply. This is also an advantage to farmers.
- The turmeric plant also spread so quickly. I have this in my own farm and I know how fast it grow. Even when I harvest little portion and process it, it will produce multiple times after few months. It is absolutely good to cultivate turmeric plants either in small quantity or in large quantity. There is always the market available.
The mint plants can be cultivated in any type of soil with the researches I made. Although it will be more preferably when you plant it where there is a lot of water supply constantly. When you have a regular water supply it will boost it crop and the production will be continuous.
The mint can be cooked as and drink 🍷🍻🍷 as tea. So in any small portion you can prepare it in a little quantity and drink it. It's also even does a lot of work and advantage more than just a mere tea portion.
The regulation of the planting can be done regularly. This is a very simple task which can be done every month. You can reduce the amount of mint that sprout out from your farm regularly to avoid overcrowding. When you have too many plants on a piece of land is not too good but crops like the mint, green vegetables, melon, and so on can do best in this condition.
I also operated just few of the mint plant to grow them in my own Farm and also observe them for a short period of time. Although I want to plant them inside the mobile seat bed so that I'll be able to regulate the competition.
