Just last two weeks friday, the students and teachers of Army Day Secondary School Afi Barracks Ikom Cross River State, including all those that were present even I myself were all full of anticipation at the events. Although, I went to the events arena late.
The event started with an opening prayer held by Mr Andrew, the school vice principal (Administration). A opening speech was given by the school principal,and concluded by Captain Joshua who is serving as an Army officer inside the barracks. The rite of making the event to be in unity was followed immediately after the address of the captain by the school sport master. The purpose of the rite was to let everyone know that there is unity among teachers and students and that the Inter-house sport competition is not just a competition fun but a competition that is designed to make the students feel more healthy and strong.
As soon as the rite came to and end, performance began and track events commenced officially at around 11:25am. The event began with match dance. The first house that began the match dance is the green house follow by the blue house, yellow house and red house. There were categories of students wearing traditional clothes representing they tribes that follow the match dance according to their various houses.
Majorities of members of the audience were delighted at the performance of the students.
Shortly after the dance, the event continued with 100metres and 200metres races of both houses, follow by other filed events that occur simultaneously according to how the events was programme.
Apart from the 100 metre and 200metres races, there was equally a race among various house captains.
After final event of the day which is quiz's competition, among the various houses, the scores for the event were collect and submited to the chief panel judge. As the results were awaited to be announced by the chief panel officers, there was so much suspense and anxiety among the students and they house captains. While the members of the audience were waiting for the results to be announce, medals 🏅 were presented to athletes that take part in various games like football, volleyball, basketball and the field track events thay had emerged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position.
After so much anxieties of waiting for the results to be announce, it was finally presented after the medals were given to the deserve althletes. The announcement of the final results was made by the chief chief judge of the panel.
Yellow House won the competition, and also emerged as the 1st place in the 2021/2022 Inter-house sport competition.
The winner of the best athlete, for the year is the person of Jeremiah Peter. He also belong to the hello house. Blue house came 2nd and Red house came 3rd whereas green house came 4th position.
The event finally came to and end with closing prayer said by the game master Mr Benard.
