Learning to Tattoo w/ Frank White

in blurt •  3 years ago

On my search for my true self and to live my most fullest of lives, I indulged in a cheap tattoo setup in hopes of maybe realizing a new hobby or even career. I have been slowly building my experience with my tattoo pen machine, a Romlon Wireless.

I purchased it for $119 on Amazon. I liked the idea of having a pen style apparatus that was also wireless. There are endless styles of machines available these days and I spent a solid week looking for something cheap & something that seemed easy to start using. This machine is literally 3 pieces out of the box. Battery/ mode control, body/needle holder and finally the needle cartridge itself. All extremely easy to assemble. My only complaint would be that it is kinda thick to hold in the hand. If it were maybe half the size in the grip for the hand it would be as close to perfect as I could ask for.

I have practiced setting stencils and inking on some cheap fake skins over the past few months, this however; left me feeling something was lacking. As I am not read to put the needle into my skin or even anyone skin else yet, I decided to use a small Cutey orange some ink. After watching other people use fruit as a medium I felt orange would be as close to human skin as possible in a 3d feel. The fake skin I was using before is flat and it doesn't mimic skin all the great IMO.

My 'customer' and some stencils I worked on as choices. The orange chose the bad ass flame job of course.

The ink part of the transfer paper after tracing out some stencils. Just though it looked cool.

Since I am not tattooing on real skin I have been using the roll on deodorant stick for the stencil to stick.

The stencil looked pretty decent despite my inexperience IMO.

Little touch up to make my target areas bold and strong. I do not recommend this brand of marker. Garbage.

I am pretty sure I went too deep on this poor little orange. The skin on this particular brand is very easy to peel however, so I went as gingerly as possible. As you can see I need much more time practicing to get clean , sharp lines. Not to make excuses , my hand was pretty shakey as well. The thickness of this grip and my posture added to an uncomfortable grip.

Decided on MONTHLY RED from MOMS ink.

I was actually thrilled with the result of the filling color. My hand was more relaxed and my touch felt less heavy. Even though this tattoo looks like hot garbage, it is a good feeling accomplishment for me.
