Honesty Is Still Trending

A friend told me how his cousin trusted his friend with some money to do business. When he told my friend, he got so worried that returning the money will be a big issue.

By experience, my friend does not trust people with money again since his childhood friend became his enemy just because of 40 thousand naira he lends to him two years ago.

It happened that he blocked my friend’s number when time to pay came. So, he seldom gives out money again.

His mindset changed completely and he lost trust for others when it comes to money.

But his cousin’s case was different. The debtor returned the money as at when due.

It was a shock to my friend, from the way he was talking and demonstrating. I simply told him

HONESTY IS STILL TRENDING.

Another story was told by my pastor last week. A friend gave his close friend 10 million naira to do business to return in two years, without interest.

According to the story, the friend he gave the money was like a brother to him, with so much trust because they have been close to each other from childhood.

After the two years, the guy made a lot of money from the business, bought cars and houses. In fact, he was living big. But he did not pay back the money he borrowed.

So, after waiting for a while, the guy who lend the money called to remind him, hoping he forgot. He actually remembered and promised to pay back in two weeks.

The guy relaxed, because he trusts him, besides, the money is there so he did not disturb him again.

Unknown to him, the debtor went and pay 4 million naira to assassins to kill the creditor so he won’t have to pay him his money. Imagine the wickedness.

Just to keep 6 million naira he was ready to take the life of the innocent friend that helped him come out of suffering.

The day the assassins planned to kill the guy, they all came to drink at a bar close to the guy’s house so that they can use the opportunity to execute their plan.

The innocent guy came back late and decided to branch the bar to drink too. When he saw a lot of people drinking, he decided to buy drinks for everybody.

The assassins also benefited from his good deeds that night. After a while of drinking, one of the bad boys noticed a sharp resemblance between the picture of the guy to kill and the one buying drinks for them.

When they all looked at it, they saw it’s the same guy. So, they decided to investigate.

They asked the guy, ‘’what did you do to Chinedu that made him to give us 4 million naira to kill you?’’

The question shocked him to his bones. He began to narrate how him and Chiboy (as he usually calls him) have been both friends and brothers from childhood. He could not believe until they brought out his picture and showed him.

He told them how he gave him 10 million naira two years ago to do business and how he refused to return it, even when he has made so much money.

The bad boy, now turned good boys. Took him Chinedu’s house and when he saw his friend with the assassins, he was shocked.

Right there, they told him that the person he paid them to murder is too good to die. They collected 10 million naira for the innocent Emeka and shot Chinedu to pieces and still went away with the 4 million naira.

The bad boys were honest.

Honesty is still trending, no matter the atrocities in the world today.

Are you still honest? Be honest, no matter how small. Someday it will pay off. Just don’t give up in your goodness.
