RAFA NADAL THE GREATEST, SO FAR, IN THE HISTORY OF MEN'S TENNIS. │ RAFA NADAL EL MÁS GRANDE, HASTA AHORA, DE LA HISTORIA DEL TENIS MASCULINO.

Today I write this post with a lot of emotion, since 2005 I have been a 100% fan of Rafa Nadal, at that time I played tennis and obviously watched every match he played.

I always knew he was good, exceptional, but I never imagined that, in such a physically demanding career, 17 years later at 36 years old, he would face in a Roland Garros final, giving the fight and winning as in his first final when he was just 19 years old.

And he has definitely made history, and I believe that still, besides his injuries and physical limitations (which at the time of playing makes it seem that disappear completely) he has much more to give, when he gave his speech of thanks after receiving the cup I felt a knot in my throat because I thought he would say goodbye, but this victory gave us a break for those who admire him, he will continue trying, and I hope soon to see him raise a new cup, and to continue reaffirming himself as the greatest in the history of men's tennis.

I firmly believe that Rafa is one of those people that being a perfectionist and demanding with himself is what has led him to be where he is. At all levels, because his injuries are the product of so many years of running, jumping, braking without control at every point where he gave and continues to give not 100 but 1000%, but thanks to that is that he has also managed to have that amount of titles he has achieved so far.

Watching every match is a spectacle, although he often repeats the same, as his routines for 17 years, at the beginning of the match he jumps and runs to the back of the court, before each point (in clay for example) his ritual of cleaning the serve line, shaking his shoes with the racket, arranging his underwear, wiping the sweat from his face, arranging his hair behind his ears, when he is going to serve he bounces the ball between 15 and 20 times, not to mention that when he sits down to hydrate, the bottles have to stay exactly in the same place on the mark that made from the moment he placed when he entered the court, even though I see this over and over again, each point has its magic, to see that in each point he gives it all, is priceless.

My husband tells me, Nadal does not like to win easy or fast, he always looks for something, or gives the opponent the opportunity to extend the match, and I feel that because of his level of self-demanding he does not like easy things, besides going to a tennis match and it ends in 1 hour is disappointing, it is to feel that you lost your money and it was not worth it (taking in consideration how expensive are the tickets for a match and more if it is a final), therefore he gives them the show that people deserve and they leave happy for having seen him play.

Anyway, I went on long enough, but the truth of all this is that I do not think, or at least not in the near future, that there is a bigger player than Rafael Nadal, at least not in clay, 14 is an easy number to say, but that of almost 20 years playing, and of those he has won 14 times, it is not easy to achieve.

My respects and admiration for you, RAFA.

Hoy escribo esta publicación con mucha emoción, desde el 2005 he sido 100% fan de Rafa Nadal, en ese tiempo jugaba tenis y obviamente veía cada partido que se disputaba.

Siempre supe que era bueno, excepcional, pero jamás me imaginé que, en una carrera tan demandante físicamente, 17 años después con 36 años de edad, se enfrentara en una final de Roland Garros, dando la pelea y ganando como en su primera final cuando tenía apenas 19 años.

Y es que definitivamente ha hecho historia, y creo que aún, a pesar de sus lesiones y limitaciones físicas (que al momento de jugar hace ver que desaparecen por completo) tiene mucho más que dar, cuando daba su discurso de agradecimiento luego de recibir la copa sentí un nudo en la garganta porque pensé que diría adiós, pero esta victoria nos dio un respiro para quienes lo admiramos, lo seguirá intentando, y espero pronto verlo levantar una nueva copa, y que se siga reafirmando como el más grande de la historia del tenis masculino.

Creo firmemente que Rafa es de esas personas que el ser perfeccionista y exigentes consigo mismas es lo que lo ha llevado a estar donde está. En todos los niveles, porque sus lesiones son producto de tantos años de carreras, saltos, frenadas sin control en cada punto donde daba y sigue dando no el 100 sino el 1000%, pero gracias a eso es que ha logrado también tener esa cantidad de títulos que hasta el momento ha logrado.

Ver cada partido es un espectáculo, aunque muchas veces repita lo mismo, como sus rutinas desde hace 17 años, al inicio del partido salta y sale corriendo a la parte de atrás de la cancha, antes de cada punto (en polvo de ladrillo por ejemplo) su ritual de limpiar la línea de saque, sacudirse los zapatos con la raqueta, acomodarse su ropa interior, secarse el sudor de la cara acomodarse el cabello detrás de las orejas, cuando va a sacar rebota la pelota entre 15 y 20 veces, sin mencionar que cuando se sienta a hidratarse, las botellas tienen que quedar exactamente en el mismo lugar sobre la marca que hicieron desde el momento en que el las ubico cuando entró en cancha, a pesar de ver esto una y otra vez, cada punto tiene su magia, ver que en cada punto lo entrega todo, no tiene precio.

Mi esposo me dice, “a Nadal no le gusta ganar fácil ni rápido, siempre busca algo, o le da la oportunidad al rival para alargar el partido”, y yo siento que es que por su nivel de auto exigencia no le gustan las cosas fáciles, además de que ir a un partido de tenis y que termine en 1 hora es decepcionante, es sentir que perdiste tu dinero y no valió la pena (tomando en cuenta lo costosas que son las entradas para un partido y más si es una final), por lo tanto él les da el espectáculo que la gente merece y se va feliz por haberlo visto jugar.

En fin, me extendí bastante, pero lo cierto de todo esto es que no creo, o por lo menos no en el futuro cercano, que haya un jugador más grande que Rafael Nadal, al menos no en polvo de ladrillo, 14 es un número fácil de decir, pero que de casi 20 años jugando, y que de esos haya ganado 14 veces, no es fácil lograrlo.
