Hey BlurtFam!

How are you all? I hope you are all doing great. Anyways, I just want to call the attention of the blurt team @megadrive, @tekraze and others to check something here in the platform. This is about spamming accounts I have noticed.

I’m not doing this to create conflict and enemies here. Believe me, I’m one of the friendliest persn here in this platform. I know this is a free platform where you have your freedom of speech whichever topics you may post.

My intention is, why can’t we be FAIR to other users here? They’re taking time creating their publications, giving a right credit to the rightful owners of the photos/videos they are using on the post.

Yesterday upon browsing on the blurt’s new posts, one of the posts caught my attention. A post title says Masi ku pantau I don’t know what it means but I believe those are Indonesian words. Then two photos of a lady in pink without any words written on the body of the post.

I checked the account and boom all of the contents are only with post title and couple of photos without explanation not even sited the photos where was being taken.

This is a clear spamming on the platform. So, it triggered me to go a little dipper and I found out that the spammer account is connected to https://blurt.blog/@maywether which I believe might be the creator as well.

There are another alternative accounts which I (again) believe owned by the same person https://blurt.blog/@rangkileh and https://blurt.blog/@yama1. Their contents are so similar that you can easily think operated by a single person. These accounts were created in July 2020.

I found out one of his/her post here in blurt is taken from the hive’s post, you may check these:
Blurt post: https://blurt.blog/r2conell/@maywether/trametes-hirsuta-mushroom-my-first-discovery
Hive post: https://peakd.com/hive-166168/@cyamanielee/trametes-hirsuta-mushroom-my-first-discovery

So maybe maywether here in blurt is the same guy as cyamanielee on hive. It seems that there is nothing wrong of reposting hive’s post to blurt

To my surprise as I went deeper, I found 17 spamming accounts in total, and they are all connected with maywether. Check those spammer accounts listed below and they are all posting the same. Grabbing photos of a women from somewhere and post it here in blurt. These accounts are just being created this June and July 2022. I’m not sure if that’s all, I found 17 or there might be more out there.

ALERTA.jpg

¡Hola BlurtFam!

Blurt post: https://blurt.blog/r2conell/@maywether/trametes-hirsuta-mushroom-my-first-discovery

As long as there are bots that automatically upvote posts without reading them and the account creation fees are so low, this spamming will not stop.

Here is my suggestion:
Wouldn't it be a good idea to increase the account creation fees to say $3 worth of blurt. This could be adjusted every week or every month.
Or a differentiation between Free and Verified Accounts to avoid spamming and abuse? Free accounts can earn a maximum of e.g. 100 blurt per post or comment and registered users (ID verification or something like this) have no limit?
If this continues then Blurt is a paradise for spammers. Unfortunately.

Of course you can report them, but COAL does not change a thing because they have a lot other accounts. It's like a loop.

Verification process is a centralised process 😆

And what about significantly increased account creation fees?

That was tried, but didn't worked.

@tekraze does it mean that we just leave and don't mind them? I hope downvote is none of the suggestions to be added here in blurt to minimize issues like this. I know, you guys are doing something to avoid this type of abuse on the chain.

We are doing coal in place of verification. We are yet to streamline the process so people can report the accounts via an easy process.
As account creation is public, even if we limit here others can do have account creation, so verification don't work.

We also have one idea in mind, that we still have to try.

That's great! thanks for your efforts. In the other platform they have downvote option so anyone can do a single click to someone's post they doesn't like. But, for me it's better not to add the same here on blurt.

Maybem as long as the bot will not mistakenly added those on trail list since the spammer is using known tags.

Ouch this is indeed unfair for the community. Spammers may caused the platform down as they are literally abusing it's power.

Yes it is, we'll let the devs to take their necessary actions about this matter.
