Pakistani speed bowler Mohammad Hasnain made his Big Bash League debut on Sunday, helping Sydney Thunder defeat Adelaide Strikers by 28 runs at Sydney Showground Stadium. This time around, Hasnain didn't go the distance, but still managed to take one wicket on the penultimate ball of the over, prompting Jonathan Wells to fumble a shot under Ben Cutting's command at short midwicket.
The 21-year-opening old's four overs yielded 3-20, with each of the three wickets he claimed coming in his first over. Thunder blew the Strikers away in the third quarter, posting a score of 172-7 for them to chase. Hasnain scored the first goal of the match with the next ball.
To get to Daniel Sams' protected hands at deep square-leg, Matthew Short had to flick a perfectly planned conveyance from his cushions because of the right arm. The second delivery, which swung and swung back to trap Jake Weatherald's left-handed leg-previously, with the hitter deciding to play a cover drive, was astonishingly better.
His debut in the Big Bash League was a triple-wicket lady for the Hyderabad-born fast bowler. Hasnain's early onslaught on the Strikers proved to be too much for them to recover from, as they were all out for 144 by the start of the final.
Jason Sangha (Australia) and Saqib Mehmood (Britain) both grabbed two wickets for the champions.
