More than 40,000,000 BLURT are powering the @BlurtBooster account, a bot which votes on almost every Blurt post - a kind of universal basic blockchain income. The vote weight ranges between 1% and 20%. Even at today's low prices, these votes can bring in more than 1.5 USD each, with some accounts taking over $50 per month from the reward pool thanks to Blurtbooster. But who owns the 40 million tokens, and is everyone rewarded with this bounty equally?
A look at the new posts coming in shows Blurtbooster is voting on almost everything, including spammy "Actifit" posts, dishing out between 3% and 14%. At first glance, it isn't obvious why certain content is rewarded at several times the rate of other content.
I've noticed many of my posts don't get a vote at all, like this one. Here are my last few payouts:
My posts are about freedom, cannabis, silver, and Blurt. I question things around here, like I'm doing now. Most would label my political stance as "conservative" but it's actually closer to libertarian or anarchist. I am outspoken on behalf of free speech and free markets. On average, I'm getting 1.5% votes from Blurtbooster.
Here are the last few payouts of my buddy @samstonehill, who I met over on Hive.
Sam has thus far escaped the Hive downvote cabal, and has become a big earner, pulling in $100+ per post. He copies his content to Blurt, but is not around to reply to comments, curate, etc. His content is about his garden, he includes photos of his children, and he writes about learning to play new instruments. He does not challenge the Blurt status quo, or even ask questions. The average vote from Blurtbooster on Sam's posts is 10.3% - seven times more than on mine. That isn't a coincidence or statistical anomaly.
So, everybody gets a boost... some just get a much larger boost than others. Those getting the smallest boosts (the least increase in visibility and reward) are being relatively left behind. This seems to be a very strange kind of 'universal basic income'. More like a tool to encourage and discourage certain content.
So, which is it?
If Blurtbooster votes on everything more or less evenly, then it is draining the reward pool and causing runaway inflation, a topic currently being discussed around the chain. (Not to mention the fact that voting on everything equally is the very definition of poor curation.)
If Blurtbooster doesn't vote on everything more or less evenly, then in addition to draining the reward pool and causing inflation, it's also being used to promote and discourage certain people and ideas.
So is Blurtbooster 'merely' inflating the currency, or is it also being used to manipulate content, a form of censorship?
Another question then arises - who owns the 40 million BLURT making it all possible? And who decides which people and ideas get less support?
The Blurtbooster wallet shows most of the BP is delegated from @initblurt, @instablurt, @megadrive, and @socialgraph. Blurtbooster is currently liquidating 67,000 BLURT per week.
Is there already official public information on this topic? (I ran a search and asked around, but was not able to find anything.)

Blurtbooster doesn’t vote based on genre or topic, it doesn’t favour specific people as manual creators would, instead it takes a holistic view of the social profile of the author based on multiple metrics such as comment engagement, number of follows and followers etc then at post level there is word and image count.
You mention Blurtbooster causes inflation of 67k per week, let me clarify how the reward pool works, Blurtbooster cant add to the daily/weekly rewards, the only thing that increases the reward pool payout is powerups, the chain was modified to output more rewards as the total powered up stake increases.
Blurtbooster can only help distribute the daily reward pool allowance, not add to it.
Lastly it’s curious how Blurtbooster’s vote value is like 30 Blurt on most of your screenshots and in thr same screenshots almost all have ctimes vote at 700 Blurt on a single post and you don’t seem to have an issue with that? So is this ctime propaganda?

Blurtbooster doesn’t evaluate the content itself, it relies on metrics it can measure, it filters out most spam accounts this way the rest has to be manually adjusted.
Well somebody has either given her the account to manage or is totally allowing this to happen and turning a blind eye because it is actually spam to just paste the same thing over and over again every single day with a different meme taken from the Internet most likely. I find your reasoning inconclusive. Why do you care when you say you don't care because you yourself see your content well supported? You take the argument that you care about the less popular and weak in a system, but that is not reflected in how you perform here. You are interested in politics and want to participate in it. So far so good. Then stand up for it.
But don't pretend that you want to give the poor or disadvantaged a piece of the big pie if you can't be seen in it with your own deeds. Then why don't you go around, actively, intensively, continuously and for all to see, looking for little commented or voted blog posts and award your votes or write feedback in the comments? I think if it was actually my choice I would have it as more of a fund to help people who are putting time into either promoting blurt, people who do meetups, people who make engaging posts but that probably takes time and someone to manage so maybe everyone should just get a tiny percentage. I see there is lot of inflation already with Blurt tokens. How can Blurt ever reach even 10 cents with such high inflation and some accounts holding several millions of tokens and minting several thousands of tokens on daily basis. This will only make platform more centralized.
My suggestion for blurtbooster would be to vote accounts with low BP only. Only newbies should be voted. Second criteria should be engagement i.e based on social capital only. Third would be for users who are using DAPPS based on application to attract more users to use Blurt DAPPS . That's all. If blurtbooster intention is to do good and improve platform then it is not necessary for it to use its daily quota of VP rather it should function on betterment of platform. I have not verified it's average VP usage though.
I actually agree I am happy not to have the votes because I feel I get enough support already but it’s absolutely criminal that the main vote is going to a opedia for copying and pasting the same material every single day with a different meme off the Internet. I'm not sure what's happening in the background but I'm happy with overall activity on Blurt for now and it is helping me to diversify my portfolio into other tokens which I consider is extremely rare. But there are Blurt wars i see every now and then. It's extremely painfull to see there are only 2 partner integrations (Actifit and Dtube ) for a 2 year old project and there is no road map or discussions related to this from the time i joined Blurt. I hope efforts goes into more partnerships rather than just focusing on not very important aspects.

I'm still on agreement with most of what i said. In my opinion Blurt should be more than a social blogging platform. I believe Only this way platform can grow. I see people fight always with respect to voting patterns and grouping and less discussions being seen on innovation and growing the platform. How long investor interests can be safeguarded if something new is not happening. With respect to voting on quality content, i have 100% agreement. But i believe 90% of the guys here are not professional bloggers and if newbies are not encouraged or DAPPS are not promoted or partnerships are not made, what's the point after all!

I see some people tweaked the code of blurtbooster and mis-using it. In some comments below i have seen that improvements are being done which is good. But I'm against the idea of raising funds for running blockchain or to raise dev funds through curation through such accounts. After all we may not be able to look through same eyes as we have different experiences and exposures from inside the product.

Thanks for bringing such things up. After checking in on the witness chat and participating myself I can tell you that some up-grades will be made to how this bot curates and hopefully we are talking days not weeks....as you know I'm not writing code for bots.
Furthermore, I've told that no names or lists of names have been used for this curation bot, rather than just measurement of certain elements on each post combined with whatever else that I'm not sure of.

No, actually I never claimed that. But Im also not taking a hard nose stance against it. He and the founders explained themselves, and it was good enough for me. Not you, and that is ok. By all means go ahead and persue whatever you feel necesarry. My battle is to encourage the price to go up and a positive vibe and smart usiness minded decision making to assist that. Many people are on some sort of "yes" and/or "no" lists with that bot. I assume the list is viewed and edited only by its owner (not necessarily all those who delegate to it). There is an agenda and pattern other than simply length of post and number of images. The farmers have figured out how to get 10%+ votes, meanwhile my long and detailed articles get 1% every time. When I post the same thing under another account I get big votes again. And my post clearly shows it's not random. Anyway, appreciate your reply, all the best.

As far as I have observed from my own content, it votes according to the number of words in the content, the number of images and the time between the created content.
The longer the content, the more pictures, the more votes.
And if he voted for the first content, if the second content is published an hour later, he does not vote for the second.
There is a margin of error, just my observations from my own content.

Also, you can safely exclude any kind of automatic activities, like reblogs an votes, focusing only on comment votes and comments.
