If I Was Still On Hive

It's curation. It's exactly like a museum choosing to shelf certain exhibits all the way at the back or at the end of their displays: everyone can still enjoy them, they simply must go to those exhibits that precede them first to get to the last.

it's more like taking money out of a bartender's tip jar and redistributing it evenly to the other bartenders

or scooping coins out of a street performer's hat and redistributing them evenly to the other street performers

The curated rewards aren't guaranteed until the payout and until then they are fair game to be redistributed.

exactly like tips in a tip-jar

at the end of the night, the tips are split up (tip-share for busboys and hosts are distributed) and only then does the money actually BELONG TO the individuals involved

Its not the same at all. The tips are not given up by costumers, they are awarded from a community fund, which is funded by the inflationary function based on the staked value of the community. As such stake holders vote for it's distribution, which doesn't translate at all to parting with tips, tips which can still be given but which costs the giver to make, unlike voting on rewards, which come from newly created tokens that indirectly affect everyone's stake depending on how they are used. If they are constantly dumped, they devalue the stake of the community and concentrate it into exchange accounts.

exactly like a dividend paying stock

Not even close. Tie in contributions and the reward pot then it'll be a valid comparison.

the reward pool is exactly the same as the total dividend

reinvesting back into the stock boosts value for all shareholders

holding the stock contributes to value for all shareholders, even if you cash out the dividend

No it doesn't, the value comes from the function that shares provide and the assets and utility that the company has. Same with hive. You reduce the function of the reward pool to absurd oxymoronic idiocy of Tip Yourself, all in efforts of denigrating a mechanism that was used in early 2017 to create the greatest influx of capital and users by an experiment that initially was meant to last only two weeks but which continued for almost two more months, the whale experiment demonstrated the power of the downvote and the downvote was why numerous people swarmed steem in q2 and q3 of that year. Hive isn't a fucking degenerate stock gambling ponzi scheme and its absurd to suggest that the reward pool functions as it was never ever intended to and that it makes any sense what so ever to even have such a completely absurd system of tipping yourself.

I think bah completely misunderstands the terminology in the meaning of Curation. curation is about organising posts into categories and displaying and curating ones that you like. Curating is not silencing everyones opinion you don’t like, auto down voting somebody before they’ve even posted, down voting somebody because you either don’t like them personally, they defended somebody who got down voted, they took their own money out of a site, they post on another site. This is not curation I don’t know where you’re getting your definition of curation from. If you curate art for an art gallery you simply organise and display the art that you like and don’t display the art that you don’t like. You don’t make it so that artist can never ever earn money again from their art because you don’t like it or tell them they’ll never ever be able to display art in your gallery at any point in the future.

Nobody can silence anyone on hive, like on here, stop making up shit and pretending it applies when its a bullshit fabrication.

please be slightly more specific

She says that curation silences people. Its a blatant falsehood, nobody can silence anyone, like on here, nobody can silence anyone, if someone is silenced its because they chose to be silent.

you're acting like downvoting is somehow NOT a disincentive to "speaking your mind"

is downvoting a "punishment" or not a "punishment" ?

Posted from https://blurtlatam.com

It depends on the one getting downvoted.

Thanks ppl are trying tobuse some crazy excuses for this behaviour. Curating my ass lol. If you ban an artists from applying to display in your gallery your banning them or black listing them your not curating them 🤣

Posted from https://blurtlatam.com

Nobody can ban you. Stop being obtuse. You literally suggested that people go to hive and make multiple accounts and earn from everything under the sun except talking about hive cabal.

you are basically banned from the trending page if the oligarchs aren't getting their cut

You're banned or blacklisted? You can still comment all over trending.

good luck getting anyone to take you seriously

Except you're not silenced.

posts hidden and negative rep does seem to have some impact on your credibility

isn't that the whole point of downvoting in the first place ?

Posted from https://blurtlatam.com

It depends on the content, doesn't it?

Posted from https://blurtlatam.com

The point of downvoting is the same as the point of upvoting, to curate the content as everyone deems best, what's at the front and what's last. As upvoting can and is abused, so too downvoting is susceptible to be misused.

if you give a group of 100 kids a handful of coins they can share to encourage artwork and writing and performances they like, they will choose different things, and some kids will receive bigger tips than others and that's all fine

there is no need to give the kids baseball bats to knock tip jars into the gutter
