There are two things I spotted that I think you've got wrong.

1st thing

Yesterday, I did a post called The top 20 curators on Blurt, which ranked all accounts by the amount of rewards they were bestowing on content (which is also the amount of curation rewards they are earning).

I disagree with what you said (written in parentheses).
As far as I know, the rewards work the following way.
Let's say (for easier math) that your 100% vote at 100% VP is worth 100 BLURT.
The upvoted article or comment would show that 100 BLURT as earning, but at the end, it would be split as follows.

50% to the author = 50 BLURT
By default (if not set otherwise in the settings), 25% of that amount (12.50 BLURT) will go to the author in liquid BLURT, while the remaining 75% (37.50 BLURT) will go to BP (Blurt Power) as Vests.

the other 50% (of a total 100) goes to the curator = 50 BLURT
And those 50 BLURTs are going to be split by 25% + 75% the same way as described above by the author.

Therefore, the amount (in our example, 100 BLURT) is neither the amount the author would receive nor the amount the curator will. They both would get half of it and split by 25%/75% in between liquid and BP BLURT.

2nd thing
The voting power actually decreases by 2% but is not (always) calculated from the initial 100% of the power.
The equation for this goes the following way.

  1. 100% - 2% (of 100) = 98%
  2. 98% - 2% (of 98%) what is -1.96 = 96.04%
  3. 96.04% - 2% (of 96.04%) what is -1.9208 = 94.1192%
  4. 94.1192% - 2% (of 94.1192) what is -1.882384 = 92.236816%
    and so on...
    till the 10th vote, after which the VP (Voting Power) would end up on about 81.71% (or to be precise at 81.707280689%).

But we can also make the 11th vote, as it would decrease our power to 80,07%. (81.71% - 2% (of 81.71) what is -1.6342 = 80.0758%)

So, we actually have 11 votes available at full given power (100% vote) per day if we want to start each new day with 100% power (as 20% regenerates daily automatically).

I hope that my "2 cents" on your topic will help you, at least somewhat, to clarify how the curation, rewards, and voting actually work around here!?! 😊

    Hi again, ana-marie : )
    In regards to your "two things"...

    1. You understand that the payout for a creator is equal to the payout for the curators of that content. I'm not sure how you could have thought that I need to be told that, as my post says it clearly more than once. Perhaps there is a language barrier? Or you did not read the whole post?
    2. Yes, VP goes down by 2% of the remaining amount for each full vote. This is a central part of the post. I laid out the calculations to prove it to the reader. All I can really say is I recommend you read the post you're commenting on, to avoid making pointless statements in the future.

    By the way...
    "the other 50% goes to the curator... split by 25% + 75%"
    Curation rewards are actually 100% Blurt Power and 0% liquid BLURT. Only rewards for creators are split 75%/25%.
