This is my instructions and islands and everything I learn to learn from the island of South Korea. I recently traveled on my second journey. It is a very beautiful island but there are things I would like to know before going to Jeju!
I tried to visit as many places as possible and went around Jeju without using a car.
If you are new to South Korea, read my South Korea travel guide. This is probably the biggest question: where to stay on Jeju Island. There are four main areas to stay in Jeju Island. Most tourists will stay in Jeju City in the north or Seogwipo City in the south. Here you will stay on the islands that will depend on the event you want to do with your long time.
If you spend three days, you can change somewhere to identify different areas. The city is full of the airport. There are beautiful sights, but other than that, Jeju City is like a bustling city, with many restaurants, hotels, shops and houses.
People like to stay in Jeju for the following reasons:
It's only 10 minutes from Jeju Airport, and it's less busy, although it's quieter than Seoul or Busan. It is easy to use cars from the city of jail on the sites on the island. There are many buses here. This is where I stayed. It takes about 30 minutes to about an hour to get to different parts of Jeju. If you're only staying for a night or two or have a late flight, it's best to stay in Jeju City as it's close to the airport. . If you are traveling only by car and only for two nights, Jeju City is also the best choice. You will see why in the car section of this article. Hotel Tips for Jeju City: Seogwipo City is the second largest city on Jeju Island, although it is quieter. It is close to green and natural sites, such as waterfalls and cliffs.
Stay in Seogwipo city if most of the things you want to do are in the south, so you don't have to go back and forth. But if you want to do a few things in the south, you can book a day in the south and stay somewhere else.
Hotel recommendations for Seogwipo city:
I haven't been to Seogwipo city yet, but the hotel is cheap in the south. This is the best hotel in Seogwipo to visit. One of the main reasons to stay on the East Coast, or Seongsan, is to be close to tourist spots.
People like to cross the east peak or Seongsan Ilchulbong immediately after sunrise, and staying on the east side is easier. And for those who want to quickly go to Udo Island, which is near the east coast.
Hotel recommendations for East Jeju:
There are many hotels in the east, many near the beach, which are cheap. Here are the hotels in East Jeju to visit. People stay on the west coast of Jeju Island, or further north for all the beaches and cafe culture by the sea. Many Airbnbs and homestays are also available in the west. I would stay in the northwest if you want to be closer to these specific beaches. Otherwise, there are also beaches in other areas. Hotel recommendations for West Jeju:
West Jeju is full of beautiful apartments and cheap guesthouses, both on Airbnb and booking sites. Lots on the beach too. This is a hotel in West Jeju to visit. Summary of where to stay in Jeju Island:
If you want to go around Jeju Island, travel by bus, take an early flight, or just stay for a short time, I recommend staying in Jeju Island.. Stay at sunset or sunrise if you want to be in specific areas most of the time.
If you are staying more than three nights, try to change hotels. In addition, if you travel in the jijand island of Juhu, search for a hotel that can get a foot or runway to the bus station to save time.
Hotel is proud to jump, but you can find something in USD 40 per night. In the south you will have a bigger and cheaper choice.
What to do in Jeju Island to connect the sites within the distance to make the car or drive worthwhile. One of the things I appreciated was to walk between the sites. You are generally surrounded by nature or interesting distant areas. Roads and trails are maintained throughout Jeju Island.
- To find more places to go nearby, type "nearby attractions" into Google Maps and tourist spots are marked with a camera icon.
Look at the reviews and photos if you are interested in the site and rate it. 3. Try to schedule sunsets around 6-7pm They are really beautiful in Jeju on the beach or on the beach.Ah Jeju Island, I'm glad we met.
I knew my first trip would be an adventure, and Jeju did not disappoint. A large island off the coast of South Korea, Jeju was well visited by my Korean friends. A few other backpackers and I booked the tour first, but the day before we left, everyone canceled. Everyone.
At that time, I had nothing planned. No activities, no hotel, no idea what to do. Not a big deal… until I found out you need a foreign driver's license to rent a car in Korea! I've never heard of a foreign driver's license, and I don't have one.
To make matters worse, it was predicted to rain every day I had to be there. Not good. I was ready to pull the plug. Everything points to this trip being a bad idea, especially given the language barrier I know is there. But… I heard a lot of great things about Jeju, and the interest of the opportunity to climb the highest peak in Korea was calling my name. Maybe I can do without a car all the time.
I made a last minute hotel reservation at Yeoli Pension in Seogwipo, on the south coast of the island, and after some last-minute digging, I was able to find a perfect day trip that caught my attention, which turned out to be a trip. The second day's journey was complete. . I arrived on Thursday evening, so I only had time to check into my hotel and have dinner at a restaurant around the corner. If you are confused, ask! Koreans are generous and helpful. Hans, the man at the front desk, walked me down the street to a nearby restaurant and helped me order. The next 3 days were an adventure: I saw five waterfalls, visited the world's largest botanical garden, had my photo taken on the way out of the optical museum, put my toes in the sand, See amazing art patterns like lava rock, and hike Korea's highest peak. mountains, watch music at a cultural festival, take a stroll through a large green tea plantation, meditate in one of the largest temples I've ever seen, and even meet a local Jeju City.
(if you want to skip the tip and just see the information and video of what I did while there, scroll to Day 1: West Tour) Book a hotel / hostel / Airbnb in the southern part of the island.
I stayed at Pension Yeoli a few kilometers from Jungmun Tourist Gate. The pension is not far to go to the main places - and you want to be in the center of Jungmun so you can go to different places. But with the help of cabbaps, moving the system systems, I am only 500 meters from paying where you pay, so there is no complaint here. You're able to HOP at the hotel to the appropriate hole to see the island. I made this last night to review the jiss and have an easy time coming to pick two. 2 Download the KakaoMap app
This is one of my favorite hacks: although KakaoMap is completely in Korean, you can use it with a little time and patience and go to the island (by taxi directly). Here's the trick... you have to enter the settings in the app in Korean, but it's easier to do than you think. Turn on the Korean keyboard on your phone (for iPhones, Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboard → Add New). Wherever you try to go, find the name in Korean. If you can copy/paste directly into Kakao, that's fine. Otherwise, take a picture of it and use the screenshot to type the name in Kakao on the Korean keyboard. Then click go, Kakao also works like Google Maps, serving two important purposes:
Gives you a clear process to follow in the car system. Don't worry about reading the Korean part of the recipe; Vehicle number is all you need to know. You can use the tips to go to the part of the island you want. You can click "English" to change the language on the information screen at the bus station. You can press and enter the instructions of the next step and taxi drivers. I think this after the first driver cannot understand where I want to go (from the sun goes to bed and I'm 6 km by my hotel). Be patient: some drivers won't understand and won't pick you up, but with this hack, most will understand that you want them to use your phone to get to your destination.
