Blurtians, today I want to share a story about my father. It's been a difficult time for our family, but I want to share my experience and the feelings we went through, hoping it will resonate with you.
My father works as a foreman in construction. Every evening, he'd come home around 5 p.m. It was routine. But one day, he didn't come home. My mother was worried. It was already 6 p.m., and still no sign of him. She called him, but the phone just rang. Her gut feeling told her something was wrong.
Around 7 p.m., a call came. My father had been in a motorcycle accident. The municipality rescuers came to our house to take my mom to the site. My mom saw him lying unconscious, covered in blood, his motorbike mangled. We were both in shock. It was a nightmare. The worst part was, we didn't know how to help. We were lost in a sea of worry.
Thankfully, an ambulance took my father to the nearest hospital, the Integrated Liloy Hospital. After his wounds were treated, the doctors and nurses said he needed to be transferred to the Dipolog Provincial Hospital. They didn't have the equipment to do a CT scan on his head or to properly assess other potential injuries.
At the Dipolog hospital, the doctors scheduled a CT scan and X-rays. The CT scan results were okay, but the X-ray showed a broken shoulder. He needed surgery.
This was our biggest challenge. We needed a downpayment of 30,000 pesos for the surgery. I used all my savings, but it wasn't enough. We went to the DSWD, we talked to politicians, we asked for help from anyone we could. Thankfully, we managed to raise the money.
Today, my father is recovering. The accident was caused by another motorcyclist, who is still hospitalized. We're so grateful for the support we received and the help we got from our community. We're also thankful for the strength and resilience my father showed throughout this difficult time.
It's a story that teaches us about the importance of family, community, and the power of resilience. Thank you for listening.
Thank you for all your support.
