It is rainy in Sichuan, and Chongqing (once belonged to Sichuan province) is known as the "Foggy City", so people there like to eat chili peppers to remove moisture, and they are also prone to arthritis. I think this is closely related to Sichuan's proximity to the Yangtze River.

Long periods of rain and frequent fog make it difficult for the sun to come out. Occasionally, there are sunny days when the sun comes out, which is considered a very rare thing. The dogs there also find it strange and regard the sun as a monster, barking wildly at it. This is the origin of the idiom "In Sichuan dogs bark at the sun", which is used to metaphorically describe the phenomenon of one who has seen less is apt to be puzzled by more.

Originally, when the sun rises the sky lightens, and when the sun sets, it gets dark, which are common things. However due to the special conditions in the Sichuan Basin, they have transformed into unique and special things. From the perspective of the whole year, foggy and cloudy days are still a minority, individual phenomena, and unique things. However, in the Sichuan Basin, they have become a common, normal, and universal phenomenon. Therefore, for dogs that cannot think abstractly, it is no wonder that they bark at the sun.

Dogs in Sichaun place can bark at the sun, but when people understand things, they cannot but pay attention to the principle of mutual transformation between commonness and individuality. They cannot only look at the commonness, regardless of the specific conditions of each region. We should not have our view overshadowed by the trivial, only start from the situation of our own region and unit, without seeing the regularity of the overall development of things.
