Shadows of fish farming

I remembered today a saying about a grandmother who lived happily and knew no troubles, but one day she bought herself a piglet lol.

A piglet, if you want to raise it, is a big responsibility associated with a change in your life rhythms with the cost of time and money for the period of feeding the animal, not to mention treatment and other nuances.

But, even knowing this saying. if there is a good harvest of potatoes, beets and pumpkins in the grandmother's garden, the probability that she will forget it is very high and a squeaky piglet will appear in her barn.

Based on this, I can remember one topic of agriculture associated with one or two of my hobbies, this is fish farming.

Yes, in fact, as an avid fisherman and an experienced aquarist, this topic haunts me, although I have said a decisive "No!" to this many times.

Becoming the owner of your own lake is like traveling to the moon, but even the moon sometimes hides in the shadow, and in the case of fish farming, the shadow sometimes behaves unpredictably and without sufficient knowledge it is better not to take on this.

There was a time when offers for me to become the owner of a lake poured in one after another.

It was possible to rent an existing lake, or rent a valley between the hills along which a stream flows and block the valley with an embankment dam and start not with fish fry, but with fish larvae, which is more profitable and, especially since the vegetation that we flood with water will become the starting food for future fish.

It was very tempting, but my knowledge then was not enough to imagine the overall picture, and the Internet did not exist then, to learn as much as possible about this, and not hope for a miracle.

At that time, the cost of renting for a hundred years was ridiculous, but all the pitfalls were not visible, for example, the fact that you do not regulate the catch and sale of certain types of fish, but this is the prerogative of the fisheries inspection and other environmental regulators, and large fines are provided for violations.

In addition, you always need to consider the human factor, and these are those who want to fish on the lake and you cannot put up an obstacle to this, or it may cost you dearly.

The topic of fish farming is very extensive and everything cannot be contained in one post, but the shadow of this topic appears when, for example, I see a small pond in the yard of distant relatives that is teeming with crucian carp lol.
