Hesperiidae - Skipper - Ischnura elegans - Variable damselfly or variable bluet.
In the Bible, in the book of Genesis of the Old Testament, there is a wonderful moment when God entrusted Adam to give names to all animals.
Looking at the animals, Adam understood their essence and, based on this, gave them a name.
Today, when looking at animals, birds, insects and fish, I try to connect that historical moment and the appearance of the creature I am currently looking at.
Let's take a look at butterflies from family Hesperiidae, which I photographed during my life in Ukraine.
When I lived in Moldova, I did not meet these butterflies, perhaps, then, I was not attentive enough.
In Russian, the name of this butterfly and the entire family suggests that these butterflies have a thick head, so it is, see for yourself.
In this photograph, I believe I was able to capture one of the species of this family Thymelicus sylvestris.
Rural butterfly, why? Does she live near the village? But, the name of this species is associated with the village.
The second species of this butterfly is different in color and I assume that this species is called Ochlodes venata.
Looking at the wings of this butterfly, similar to the raised sails of a brigantine, I understand why the English name of this butterfly sounds like - skipper!
I said that I am guessing the name of this species, but I have doubts about this. The color of the wings of this butterfly is similar to the color of the wings of the species Thymelicus lineola.
Also, this butterfly is very similar to a shaggy bear. Look at her body covered with thick hairs.
In any case, all the names of this butterfly correspond to its appearance.
From my own experience, I can say that this is a calm butterfly that allows you to come close to it and take a photo.
She looks like an inhabitant of the night, but she is a day butterfly and is very cute.
