The game starts with Alan Wake in the dark making his way to the lighthouse, just like how Life Is Strange starts. These dark entities attack him in the dark and he has to go into the light to be safe and see the darkness eat things/possess things.
Alan learns his wife has been taken and he has to find her before it's too late.
