A Uganda Prison Service statement on Tuesday stated that a case of mpox has been verified in Nakasongola Prison, which is situated in central Uganda. The prisoner who is infected has been placed under isolation and is undergoing medical care.
This is in response to the introduction of a novel form that prompted the World Health Organization to declare mpox a public health emergency of international significance in August.
Since it was first discovered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo early this year, the outbreak has expanded to neighboring nations like Uganda.
Frank Baine who is the prison spokesman made us to know that bail could not be approved for the sick prisoner who is accused of murder. he also stated that the prsion service are actually suspecting that he may have gotten the sickness prior to entering at the facility, but inquiries are in progress.
