PRESSED BUT NOT CRUSHED

Hello beautiful people. I always looked forward to my final year in the university and the most thrilling part of it was how I would write my long essay (project). To my greatest dismay, the last semester of university was for me, the most difficult ever. Nothing prepared me for the nervous shock that was ahead of me.

Writing my first academic work which was a thrill to me, became my greatest nightmare due to the experience I had. One thing was constant, I was putting in my best (or so I thought) however, I never seemed to do enough to “impress” my supervisor.
On somedays I’d ask myself,
“who send me?”
“Why didn’t I just contract someone to write it for me?”

On other days I’d cry hot tears due to the comments made in my work. This TikTok sound _the pain the torment, the torture, haven’t you done enough? _ lived rent free in my head. It took such a long time to get it right, but I finally got his approval to submit my final copies. I heaved a sigh of relief; it was truly finished!

I learned a few lessons from this experience which I would like to share. You may be putting in your best but once the results required of you are not forthcoming, it will seem like you are doing nothing at all.
Effort is appreciated when there is positive result.

It was after I submitted the final copies of the long essay that I got a “you have tried, congratulations” from my supervisor.
External validation is encouraging but relying solely on it is risky. What if you never get the pat on the back which you so desire? Would you stop doing the work because no one is cheering you on?
The first half of the year is over, and it is time to review the journey so far (if you have not done that already).

Have you been doing so much yet no positive outcome? Have your efforts not been appreciated enough, and you want to give up? Have you been waiting for someone to sing your praises just to fuel your zeal? The world, many a time, applauds results (finished product) not the process of getting it done.

Do not stop pushing because no one appreciates nor sees the work you are putting in to achieve your goals. Put in more effort and you will surely get it right at last.
