Hello everyone!
Welcome to my new food blog. This food that I will be sharing to you is my entry to the 93RD Edition||MY FAVOURITE FOOD CONTEST BY BLURTCONNECT||500 BLURT PRIZE POOL||2% TO @NULL by @blurtconnect-ng. This dish that I'm sharing to you today maybe looks weird to those who haven't tried or seen it so bear with my blog today or if you don't like the content of this blog you may skip it.
Before starting sharing the recipe and procedures about the dish I'm cooking to let me share to you why I had choose this kind of dish. Chicken feet dish is one of the go-to food of our family because it's delicious and making this dish won't cost us too much money. In short, it's a budget friendly meal for our family. It is also said that chicken feet is also rich in collagen which can help with skin health, joint pain, and bone strength. Eating chicken feet is also beneficial to our body. There are many types of dish that I can cook with chicken feet; chicken feet tinola, chicken feet barbecue, chicken feet adobo, chicken feet cook with coconut milk and crispy chicken feet but in this blog I will only share two of these mentioned dish.
Chicken feet Tinola
Chicken feet tinola is a tasty soup which is good to consume especially on cold weather. Drinking hot soup of it can ease the coldness that one feels. And because today we are experiencing cold and rainy afternoon so we decided to buy 2 kilo of chicken feet which cost almost $2 so that we would have soup during dinner. I started cooking almost 6PM because I still prepared the needed ingredients for this dish. Below are the list of the ingredients that I prepared.
Ingredients:
- Oil
- Bell Pepper
- Garlic
- Onion
- Chicken cubes
- Namnam seasoning granules
- Chicken Feet
- Horseradish
- Salt
- Lemon grass
Some people also put ginger in the tinola and I am supposed to put it too but my bad I forgot to buy ginger when we went out so I only use lemon grass and other spices to cook this.
PROCEDURES
First, heat the pot. When it's already hot put oil. Then sautee the spices (garlic, onion, bell pepper). I used one whole onion, one piece of bell pepper and 6 cloves of garlic.
When I noticed that the garlic turned browned and the other spices are cook, I added the chicken feet and stir it. This is 1 kilo of chicken feet. The other 1 kilo of it will be for the adobo. I kilo of chicken feet has 40 to 43 pieces depending on the sizes of the chicken feet.
Next, I added water. I didn't measure how much water I put. I just estimated it. Then I put the chicken cubes, salt and seasoning granules so that the chicken feet and the broth will taste better. After I seasoned it, I covered the pot and let it simmer for more than 20 minutes. This is to make sure that the chicken feet become soft. Within that period of time I also opened the pot every five minutes to stir it. Oh before I forgot I put lemon grass on it too. Lemon grass made the tinola more delicious because of its aroma. In the picture of the ingredients the lemon grass isn't present because I got it late.
I checked the chicken feet after almost half an hour of simmering it. The chicken feet were already soft so I added the horseradish and mix it. I also taste the soup to check if the taste is already good and it was so I cover it. I let it simmer for only 2 minutes and finally it's ready to serve.
Here's the cooked chicken feet tinola. This dish is easy to cook and it doesn't cost much because a kilo of it is just almost a dollar which is very favorable to us especially when we're on tight budget but we want to eat delicious food.
I also cooked chicken feet adobo after I cook the tinola. I didn't do a detailed step on how this is cook because I'm already famished so I just cook and didn't took photos on the procedures.
This is the chicken feet adobo. It taste a little sweet and has a vinegary flavor too. My husband and my youngest boy loves this more than the tinola while me and my eldest boy loves the tinola.
Have you ever tried eating any chicken feet dish? If you do, how was your experience? Did you like it? Share your experience in the comment section and I'll gladly read it.
