Vienna a piedi: un breve tour
Vienna è una città fantastica per passeggiare, poiché la maggior parte del suo territorio è pianeggiante. Inoltre, anche i trasporti pubblici sono efficienti, il che permette di spostarsi tra un viaggio e l'altro a piedi senza stancarsi. Abbiamo trascorso tre giorni lì, incluso uno al Palazzo di Schönbrunn. Questo è un itinerario di due giorni pensato per esplorare il centro di Vienna. Viaggia tra musei, mercati e palazzi per immergerti nella sua atmosfera.
Vienna on foot: a short tour
Vienna is a great city for walking, as most of its territory is flat. In addition, public transportation is also efficient, making it possible to move between trips on foot without getting tired. We spent three days there, including one at Schoenbrunn Palace. This is a two-day itinerary designed to explore downtown Vienna. Travel between museums, markets and palaces to soak in its atmosphere.
Primo giorno a Vienna: un viaggio alla scoperta del luogo
Una volta arrivato a Vienna, dall'aeroporto, hai diverse opzioni per raggiungere il centro città. Oltre al treno che fa tante fermate e taxi (ci hanno dato circa 48€ per andare in centro!) scegliamo Cat (City Train). Al prezzo di 11€, in circa 20 minuti, ci porta nel centro di Vienna. Il biglietto può essere acquistato sia presso il terminal dell'aeroporto che presso i distributori automatici presenti sui binari. Disfatti velocemente i bagagli dall'hotel, il nostro tour di Vienna inizia passeggiando davanti a Maria Theresien Platz, il luogo dedicato a Maria Teresa d'Austria. Fa freddo ma non troppo, il sole fa capolino tra le nuvole, illuminando a tratti i bellissimi edifici viennesi.
First day in Vienna: a journey of discovery
Once you arrive in Vienna from the airport, you have several options to get to the city center. In addition to the train, which makes many stops and cabs (they gave us about 48€ to go downtown!) we choose Cat (City Train). For the price of 11€, it takes us to the center of Vienna in about 20 minutes. Tickets can be purchased either at the airport terminal or at the vending machines on the platforms. Quickly unpacked from the hotel, our tour of Vienna begins by walking past Maria Theresien Platz, the place dedicated to Maria Theresien of Austria. It is cold but not too cold, and the sun peeps through the clouds, illuminating the beautiful Viennese buildings at times.
Sono tutte bellissime e decorate con fregi e statue all'ingresso. Domina l'intera piazza la statua di Maria Teresa, grande e potente, prima e unica monarca donna a sedere sul trono asburgico. A pochi passi si trova il quartiere dei musei, una zona ricca di diversi musei. Proseguiamo a piedi fino al Naschmarkt. Era venerdì mattina, quasi ora di pranzo, e nonostante le strade dissestate, la città sembrava tranquilla e trafficata. Proseguiamo lungo Mariahilfer Strasse, dopo aver superato una zona residenziale con nuovi e bellissimi edifici, arriviamo in prossimità del mercato. Il Naschmarkt si snoda lungo un'ampia strada e, oltre ai minimarket, la maggior parte dei quali coperti, ha anche un bel negozio permanente dove si vende di tutto.
They are all beautiful and decorated with friezes and statues at the entrance. Dominating the entire square is the statue of Maria Theresa, great and powerful, the first and only female monarch to sit on the Habsburg throne. A short walk away is the Museum Quarter, an area filled with several museums. We continued on foot to the Naschmarkt. It was Friday morning, almost lunchtime, and despite the bumpy streets, the city seemed quiet and busy. We continued along Mariahilfer Strasse, and after passing a residential area with beautiful new buildings, we arrived near the market. The Naschmarkt runs along a wide street, and in addition to convenience stores, most of them covered, it also has a nice permanent store where everything is sold.
Ci sono anche piccoli posti dove mangiare durante il tour e ottimi ristorantini. Tuttavia, contrariamente alle mie aspettative, a parte frutta e verdura di tutte le forme e colori, non c'è molto di tipicamente viennese. Tuttavia, mi piace il colore, l'odore e il tono che sono quasi mediorientali. Il mercato è suddiviso in diverse sezioni dedicate. Troviamo indiani, turchi, greci e per me è come perdersi tra odori, spezie, formaggi ma anche piccoli dolcetti di pasta fillo di dolce miele che ci piacciono E anche il prezzo è buono. Infine, per immergerci direttamente nell'atmosfera viennese, abbiamo deciso di mangiare al Wiener Wiazhaus, non lontano da lì. E l'opzione paga. Appena entri nella stanza ti senti come se fossi stato trasportato indietro negli anni '50. Appendi sci in legno, vecchi manifesti pubblicitari o gruppi musicali degli anni '60 e '70 e fai un piccolo viaggio indietro nel tempo.
There are also small places to eat during the tour and excellent little restaurants. However, contrary to my expectations, apart from fruits and vegetables of all shapes and colors, there is not much that is typically Viennese. However, I like the color, smell and tone that are almost Middle Eastern. The market is divided into several dedicated sections. We find Indians, Turks, Greeks and for me it's like getting lost in the smells, spices, cheeses but also small phyllo dough treats of sweet honey that we like And the price is good too. Finally, to immerse ourselves directly in the Viennese atmosphere, we decided to eat at the Wiener Wiazhaus, not far from there. And the option pays off. As soon as you enter the room you feel like you have been transported back to the 1950s. Hang up wooden skis, old advertising posters or bands from the 1960s and 1970s and take a little trip back in time.
E se da quella descrizione il luogo può sembrare vecchio ed antico, vi assicuro che non è così e, anzi, l'attenzione è stata prestata ai più piccoli dettagli, mantenendo uno stile semplice e corretto. Prendiamo un brodo di fegato che ci rinfresca con le salsicce viennesi insieme a crauti e patate. Tutto buono e molto generoso, cosa che rispettiamo :) Dopo pranzo la nostra passeggiata continua. Superato il museo dedicato alla Secessione Viennese che può interessare anche dall'esterno, arriviamo alla Karlskirche. La chiesa era molto bella ma purtroppo non siamo potuti salire sulla cupola perché l'ascensore era rotto. Il nostro percorso attraverso Vienna continua, passando prima per il Musikverein, dove ogni anno si svolge il famoso concerto di Capodanno, lo riconoscerete dalle tante stelle sull'asfalto che lo collegano a diversi nomi di band. Passing the museum dedicated to the Viennese Secession, which may also be of interest from the outside, we arrive at the Karlskirche. The church was very beautiful but unfortunately we could not go up the dome because the elevator was broken. Our route through Vienna continued, passing first by the Musikverein, where the famous New Year's Eve concert is held every year, you will recognize it by the many stars on the asphalt connecting it to different band names. Abbiamo camminato lungo Karntner Strasse, una trafficata via dello shopping, finché non abbiamo visto una sorpresa davanti a noi: St. Cattedrale di Stefano. È molto bello con la sua alta guglia e le maioliche del tetto dai toni dal verde al giallo, che rappresentano l'aquila bicipite, stemma asburgico. Un bellissimo dipinto gotico che cattura la sua attenzione. La cattedrale è davvero magnifica ed entriamo subito, ansiosi di vedere questa meraviglia al suo interno. Preferiamo il biglietto da 4€ che permette di vedere solo alcune zone senza la cripta e la navata centrale. Tutto è in marmo grigio, c'è molta luce per via delle tante finestre colorate che sono presenti. All'interno sono numerose le guglie e le architetture che aumentano l'altezza della chiesa. La collezione Gothic di Pilgram è bellissima e attira sia l'occhio che lo spazio.
Castello Belvedere
We walked along Karntner Strasse, a busy shopping street, until we saw a surprise before us: St. Stephen's Cathedral. It is very beautiful with its tall spire and roof tiles in shades from green to yellow, representing the double-headed eagle, the Habsburg coat of arms. A beautiful Gothic painting captures your attention. The cathedral is truly magnificent and we enter at once, eager to see this wonder inside. We prefer the 4€ ticket that allows us to see only certain areas without the crypt and nave. Everything is gray marble, there is a lot of light because of the many colored windows that are present. Inside there are numerous spires and architecture that add to the height of the church. Pilgram's Gothic collection is beautiful and draws both the eye and the space.
Belvedere Castle
Dopo una breve passeggiata arriviamo all'ingresso del parco che circonda il castello. Erano da poco passate le 16:30, il sole cominciava a tramontare e il castello in lontananza aveva qualcosa di romantico. Ci sono alcuni turisti, qualche jogging e qualche anatre che vagano liberamente qua e là. L'orario di chiusura del museo è solitamente alle 18:00. Tuttavia, sapendo che fino alle 9 del mattino sarebbe stata una serata fantastica, ce la siamo presa con calma. Tuttavia, con sua sorpresa, l'evento è gratuito a partire dalle 17:30! Quando attraversiamo il giardino aspettiamo il bel tempo e dopo una breve coda entriamo. Ci siamo subito goduti il bellissimo Salone dei Marmi, con due camini ai lati, un bellissimo affresco sul soffitto e… tante panchine per sederci e godercelo! Dopo questa breve pausa andiamo nelle altre stanze.
After a short walk we arrived at the entrance to the park surrounding the castle. It was just after 4:30 p.m., the sun was beginning to set, and there was something romantic about the castle in the distance. There are a few tourists, some joggers and a few ducks roaming freely here and there. The closing time of the museum is usually 6 pm. However, knowing that until 9 a.m. it would be a great evening, we took it easy. However, to his surprise, the event is free starting at 5:30 p.m.! As we walked through the garden we waited for good weather and after a short queue we went inside. We immediately enjoyed the beautiful Marble Hall, with two fireplaces on either side, a beautiful ceiling fresco, and... lots of benches to sit and enjoy it! After this short break we went to the other rooms.
Tutti sono soggetti a lavori dal XVI secolo alla prima metà del XX secolo. Il processo è passo dopo passo e puoi controllare attentamente ogni lavoro. Ma una volta arrivati alle sale dedicate alla partizione viennese, Giuditta la prende letteralmente d'assalto. Che tu sia un amante di Klimt o meno, queste stanze meritano una sosta per apprezzare dipinti come Il bacio infinito e Adamo ed Eva. Proseguiamo al piano superiore dove si trovano altre opere degli inizi del '900. Abbiamo scelto di visitare solo il Belvedere Superiore per questioni di tempo e la visita è durata circa 2 ore e mezza. Dato che era ora di cena, avevamo prenotato al Salm Brau, una brasserie molto carina con un'atmosfera vivace. atmosfera e gioia. Oltre alla birra di loro produzione anche il cibo è molto buono. Dopo il pretzel e la zuppa alla birra come antipasto, ordiniamo le costine di maiale e la selvaggina, accompagnate da canederli austriaci, funghi, cipolle e composta di frutti rossi che donano al piatto un sapore dolcissimo, senza suono.

We continue to the upper floor where there are more works from the early 1900s. We chose to visit only the Upper Belvedere because of time constraints, and the visit lasted about 2 1/2 hours. Since it was dinner time, we had reservations at Salm Brau, a very nice brasserie with a lively atmosphere. atmosphere and joy. Besides the beer they brew, the food is also very good. After pretzels and beer soup as appetizers, we order pork ribs and venison, accompanied by Austrian dumplings, mushrooms, onions, and red fruit compote that give the dish a very sweet, soundless flavor.
Appena partiti da lì, siamo tornati in albergo con gli occhi aperti. Vienna diventa magica la sera, grazie non solo agli effetti di luce creati nei vari edifici ma anche ai piccoli spettacoli. Come quello di un'auto bianca che ci passa davanti, facendoci sentire per un attimo nella Vienna di Sissi e François Joseph. Questo secondo itinerario è stato il nostro ultimo giorno a Vienna. Il tour può essere completato in una mattinata e include sia una pausa pranzo che una pausa dessert :)
As soon as we left there, we returned to the hotel with our eyes wide open. Vienna becomes magical in the evening, thanks not only to the lighting effects created in the various buildings but also to the little sights. Like the one of a white car driving past us, making us feel for a moment in the Vienna of Sissi and François Joseph. Thus, like a dream, ends our first day in the Austrian capital. Dal Palazzo all'Hofburg
Lasciando l'hotel andiamo all'Hofburg attraverso il prato di Heldenplatz. Stamattina non si vede il sole, ma Vienna è bianca. Ma non perché nevichi, ma perché la luce filtra attraverso le nuvole leggere che riempiono ogni angolo del cielo e crea un effetto quasi opaco. Sembra che ci sia intorno il bianco che ricopre ogni cosa e fa risaltare gli edifici, con il suono della luce. Sono quasi come uno nel cielo. E quando chiediamo che tempo fa a Vienna, otteniamo una risposta come questa... bianca. In questa atmosfera siamo arrivati dietro l'Hofburg. Anche qui la nostra scelta, sempre per il poco tempo a disposizione, è stata quella di non visitare i vari edifici tra cui il Museo di Sissi, ma di ammirarli semplicemente dall'esterno.
From the Palace to the Hofburg
Leaving the hotel we go to the Hofburg across the lawn of Heldenplatz. No sun is visible this morning, but Vienna is white. But not because it is snowing, but because the light filters through the light clouds that fill every corner of the sky and creates an almost opaque effect. There seems to be white all around, covering everything and making the buildings stand out, with the sound of light. They are almost like one in the sky. And when we ask what the weather is in Vienna, we get an answer like this-white. In this atmosphere we arrived behind the Hofburg. Here again our choice, again because of the limited time available, was not to visit the various buildings including the Sissi Museum, but to simply admire them from the outside.
Andiamo comunque alla sala di rappresentanza della Biblioteca nazionale austriaca che merita una visita. La sala, infatti, è la più grande biblioteca barocca d'Europa e contiene più di 200.000 libri. Appena entri gli occhi si alzano subito: i libri sembrano infiniti. La struttura è interamente in legno, con finestre centrali e scale lungo tutti gli scaffali. Ci sono anche strade maestre che non possono essere visitate. I libri disponibili sono molto antichi e sono stati tutti digitalizzati. Di lato ci sono due grandi globi. Potremmo restare qui per ore a leggere libri cercando i nomi degli attuali visitatori del Museo Albertina
Let's go, however, to the reception hall of the Austrian National Library, which is well worth a visit. The hall, in fact, is the largest Baroque library in Europe and contains more than 200,000 books. As soon as you enter, your eyes immediately go up: the books seem endless. The structure is made entirely of wood, with central windows and stairs all along the shelves. There are also highways that cannot be visited. We could stand here for hours reading books looking for the names of current visitors to the Albertina Museum
Dopo il magnifico Palazzo, la seconda scelta di musei da visitare è l'Albertina, per la sua vasta collezione di arte moderna e contemporanea. Da Warhol a Modigliani, ma anche Cézanne, Matisse, Pollock, Schiele e tanti altri. Le collezioni del museo sono molto grandi ed estese. Impieghiamo circa qualche ora per visitarlo ma possiamo rimanere più a lungo. Una volta fuori, alza lo sguardo e goditi la vista dalla cima di Albertina Platz. Ero molto felice. Abbiamo pranzato velocemente, approfittando del vicino Btzinger Wurstelstand, un chiosco conosciuto in tutta la città per i suoi panini a base di salsicce e cibi vari. Dopo circa 10 minuti di coda scegliamo per la sua dimensione classica, ovvero semplice con senape e patatine... Che dire, buonissima!!! Grazie alle sue dimensioni, nient'altro
After the magnificent Palace, the second choice of museums to visit is the Albertina, for its vast collection of modern and contemporary art. From Warhol to Modigliani, but also Cézanne, Matisse, Pollock, Schiele and many others. The museum's collections are very large and extensive. The visit takes about a couple of hours, but you can stay longer. Once outside, look up and enjoy the view from the top of Albertina Platz. I was very happy. We had a quick lunch, taking advantage of the nearby Btzinger Wurstelstand, a kiosk known throughout the city for its sausage sandwiches and various foods. After about 10 minutes in line we choose for its classic format, that is, plain with mustard and chips.... What can I say, delicious!!! Thanks to its size, nothing else
