I will never propose or support a reputation system. Basically, I will fight it until the last minute.
This is one of the most corrupt things on hive and is directly related to downvoting and indirectly to the so-called Social credit system which is an oppressive tool for controlling population and combating freedom of speech.
Everyone makes their own reputation about individuals and there is no such thing as an objective reputation.
When in ordinary situations such a system may seem useful because there are basically no important topics to censor and people behave relatively rationally. In situations such as during a pandemic, the vast majority of society manipulated by the media hates people who tell the truth because they themselves are manipulated and it is in such situations that the reputation system shows its true face when the manipulated crowd in a fit of panic and hysteria caused by the media, by itself allows itself to stigmatize people who think differently precisely through systems such as reputation systems or shadowban and silencing tools, creating a self-censoring system that is unable to defend itself against media manipulation because it silences the voices of reason by itself.
The introduction of such functionalities is a denial of one of the basic functions that, in my opinion, blurt fulfills, i.e. the function of a free and unrestrained medium for transmitting information whatever it may be, so that everyone can find out the opinion of everyone else if they want to, without making it difficult for some groups to reach the rest with their views.
And it is precisely for crisis situations in which the truth is fought by the mainstream with all severity that it is most important for social discussion to be as unrestrained as possible.
We got rid of the reputation system in one of the early hard forks. It was either in HF 1 or HF 2 if I'm not mistaken.
We will never suggest adding a reputation system to Blurt. You don't have to worry about that. I think most witnesses (if not all) on Blurt will agree on this point.
yes I know and that makes me very happy. I'm just replying @rex-kibreay to point that out :)
I will also say I will not agree with the reputation system. I think it is pretty nice right now with everyone not having a reputation attached to their username
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
