If you suffer from headaches, you know how distracting and annoying they can be. Headaches can also affect a person's quality of life. In this article, I will share some of my favorite herbal teas for headaches and migraines, as well as how you can use them as part of your natural treatment program. Headaches and migraines can cause many different kinds of side effects such as, dizziness, nausea, sweating, tiredness, depression and anxiety. Read on to find out how these herbal teas can help.
One of my all time favorite teas, Ginger Tea has soothing effects for headaches and nausea. Peppermint Tea, made from mint leaves, peppermint tea has a sweet, pleasant flavor.
Chamomile Tea or chamomile infusion: Chamomile has a very calming effect, which may be just what you need to relieve your headaches and migraines. It can also help ease muscle spasms, cramps and spasms that occur due to headaches.
Stress and anxiety increase the intensity and duration of a headache. If you want to alleviate your pain, one of the best things you can do is reduce the amount of stress in your life. Try doing something that you enjoy, get rid of your office work for a few hours every day, and unwind. Also, change your diet and get more fresh vegetables and fruits. You want to feel relaxed, not stressed and tense. By reducing the amount of stress in your life you will be able to lessen your headache pain significantly.
The most important thing you can do for your health and to alleviate your headaches is to try to lower your daily stress. There are many herbal teas that can help you do this. One such herb that is very effective for relieving stress is Black Cohosh. Black Cohosh works very effectively when combined with other herbs like Ginger and Echinacea to form a natural and powerful combination known as the "Power C" collection of herbal teas.
Black Cohosh is also very effective in reducing the symptoms of headaches and migraines. People suffering from headaches and migraines should avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These medicines are not effective for the treatment of headaches and they can be very dangerous for your health in general. Since NSAIDs are not effective against the root causes of your headache, people using these medicines often experience a rebound effect and suffer from more headaches and muscle pain after using them.
The first herbal tea that I recommend for treatment of headaches and tension headaches is St. John's Wort. This herb is very effective for reducing anxiety and depression. It can also reduce the symptoms of headaches associated with tension headaches and migraine. It can be bought over the counter in the form of a pill.
Next on my list of favorite herbal teas for headaches and tension headaches is peppermint oil. Peppermint oil has very good medicinal properties. It has been used for thousands of years to soothe headache symptoms and it is still being used today. You can buy Peppermint Ointment or Oil at your local drugstore. Make sure to use Peppermint Ointment straight from the bottle as some people have reported having a negative reaction to drinking Peppermint Oil.
The last two herbal teas that I will talk about are Chamomile and Lavender. Both of these herbs have calming and soothing properties. They are great to use as massage teas as they are very relaxing. If you have had a headache and are in pain, try either Chamomile Tea or Lavender Tea. These are two of the most effective teas that you can use for headaches and tension headaches. Just remember, before you make a choice of what herbal teas to use for your headaches and tension, consult with your medical professional.
