The per capita income of the people of Bangladesh has increased over the last few years. But unfortunately, it is true that the cost of living has increased far more than that. The saddest thing is the rise in food prices. The prices of all kinds of food are high, which is constantly getting out of the reach of middle and lower class people.
But Bangladesh is an agricultural country. It is really sad that food prices have gone up so much in an agricultural country.
Earlier, his family was doing well with the salary that a government employee used to get. Now the salaries of all government employees have almost doubled. But despite having a higher salary, the family is struggling to make ends meet.
For example, the price of rice which was 32 taka in 2016 is now 60+ taka, edible oil has increased from 60 to 175 taka. The price of each product is increasing at a higher rate. The prices of some products are almost doubling.
Low-income people are most at risk. The number of low income people is much higher. Life is getting difficult for them. The government should keep an eye on these issues and control the prices of food items.
