Vegetables are a main component of a healthy diet. Some vegetables will serve different purposes in our diets and it's important to keep a track on what we are fuelling our bodies on each day.
One of my favourite vegetable is beetroot, a rich and red vegetable that is rich in nitrates. Eating sufficient amounts of beetroot will help to lower blood pressure. They're also rich in a number of other vitamins and I've felt the incorporation of this food to be highly important.
Beetroot shakes are a wonderful way to down this lovely vegetable. I often pick a fruit and kale to go along with the beetroot to make a delicious and healthy shake. I've also recently been steaming by beetroots for salads, simply cut or shred them. Don't be too alarmed if you go to the toilet and see an alarming redness, this is due to the beetroot!
