It was an easy day for activities as I'm recovering nicely from my weekend ultramarathon effort - a bit stiff and sore legs but overall I did well today with almost 4 miles of running.
I was up early and it was a nice and relaxing 2 mile morning stroll with Lulu. I imagine that she was very happy to be back walking with her daddy even if there weren't any other people out walking.
I wasn't sure how I'd felt once I began my run and my thighs were initially very stiff but quickly loosened up and I was striding along at a 10 and a half minute pace as I looped around the nearby roads. I figured that I'd see how a slower "ultra shuffle" stride would feel as it will be easier to maintain over the many hours in my races. I was still a bit fast in that regard as I'll probably aim for 11 minute miles or so at my upcoming ultras which I'll hopefully extend the amount of time that I can maintain running.
I did 2 easy dirt loops before the half mile stretch home - felt fine afterwards and happy that I'm recovering well.
A welcome hike on the easy paved trail at Lynx Lake and now time to relax.
