I was running on very tired and sluggish legs today after a crappy off day Friday spent up shopping in Sedona and eating way too much junk food as well.
The sky was overcast with low dark clouds and the forecast was for snow showers later throughout the day. Fortunately it was just a windy and quite chilly morning to run which was fine with me.
I actually felt rather sick after a restless sleep and I had a hard time getting my body in gear and running decently.
Since I'll be running another 24 hour ultra in exactly a week my runs are going to be easier and taper off in another few days so today's route was simply doing several loops of our local walking route. The majority of the run was a pleasant time on the large field with its appropriate half mile trail with just the initial and final sections on the road.
All in all it was a good 10 km which actually was more than I had expected and my ultra pace will be much slower so that's not a big deal in my view.
Lulu and I finished up with a couple of miles up at Granite Basin so as not to worry about too much snow (just a few light snow squalls that barely wet the ground).
The basin was empty except for one other car and we were alone on the Metate Trail except for a few hardy birds to break the silence as we hiked beneath the tall pines and nearby Granite Mountain surrounded by clouds.
Except for a cold snow squalls and Lulu wanting to pause and check out everything it was a very enjoyable 2 miles to end a early winter November day.
