After my nice 7 mile road run yesterday I was ready for some miles on the trails today. The network of trails up in the Spence Springs area was my plan but I tried several different trails in the area.
Thankfully there weren't many people out on the trails aa there were only a couple of cars at the Javelina trailhead and I didn't cross paths with anyone.
The first mile was a tough and tedious crawl UP along the busy highway to Iron Springs Pass at over 6300 feet before I gladly branched off onto the first of several winding single-track trails. From here it was a nice downhill run until 4 and a half miles where I would cross under the Javelina Trail and begin winding way back uphill towards the parking lot.
My pace was much slower as I still have bruises from my previous bad fall on the Granite Basin trails as well as having to stop several times to figure out which trail (of several) was the one I wanted. Overall I'm happy with the results today and we'll just have to keep up the good work.
Of course I had to take Lulu out for a nice hike. There were no parking spots at Lynx Lake so we did a good 2 miles up in Granite Basin with a finish at the lake for my sweet little pup.
