It was a long drive over 2 days but I'm up at Palmer Lake in Colorado getting ready for tomorrow's start of the Palmer Lake 24 Hour.
My legs were stiff from all the hours driving up from Arizona and I stuffed myself with way too much junk food but no need to be under-fueled for the miles ahead (plus I'll get back to a healthy keto diet soon enough).
Beautiful scenery and mild weather ahead for the race but today it was just an easy 4 miles around the little lake on the ultra course.
I actually felt very good circling around the 0.8 mile course and hopefully those 3 mph loops will add up to over 50 miles over the 24 hours, although even at a walking pace 24 hours is tough on the legs.
I have no grand ambitions to put in great mileage and right now I just want to be moving for the whole race.
Time for dinner and (hopefully) a good night's sleep - alarm set for 6 am already.
