I've been working on my thighs with ultrasound and infrared therapy after my workouts which seems to have helped ease my tired muscles. I decided to head out to Lynx Creek to run on the rugged Salida Gulch Trail.
The first mile was a fairly steady climb from the creek up into the scrubby hills high above. The narrow trail twisting and turning through a series of switchbacks to gain altitude before the grade eased a bit for the next mile.
My legs were really aching with the effort of the climb but thankfully there were welcome level stretches where my energy recovered and the heat wasn't oppressively warm.
It was a welcome relief when I finally crested the last climb and began the second half of the trail that crossed over the dry ravine and wound down towards the creek and the finish.
My pace wasn't the best and I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to finish the trail at first but after 2 miles I was feeling pretty good and I'm happy how I did.
Finished up my weekend with a loop around Lynx Lake with Lulu. The sky was dark but no rain fell and we had a great hike around the relatively quiet lake. My legs appreciated the easy effort and Lulu had fun as well.
