Rime for a run on the trails on a big loop around the Goldwater Lakes south of town - overall it was a decent run but not as much energy as I had hoped for.
I've hiked a lot of this area (mostly with Lulu) and have run a few bits as well but this would be Mt longest trek on these trails.
These first couple of miles were a very pleasant winding downhill to bring me down to the edge of the lake. From here the trail split away and headed up into the low hills around the lake. It was an up and down route that was easy to follow with just enough rocky spots to keep me alert. As I approached 4 miles the trail became more rocky and rugged and began it's climb up towards the trailhead.
My legs really began to tire at 5 miles as the route got narrow and steeper but fortunately it leveled out and turned into a wide and flat sandy tract back to the trailhead.
Not the best effort but my endurance continues to improve (even though my VO2 has dropped).
Maybe a few miles on the Peavine tomorrow.
