I was a bit more adventurous today as I attempted a longer and tough trail run over at Granite Basin along a hilly single track route along Mint Wash.
It was going to be another hot day so Lulu and I got out early for our walk. We met a couple of dog walkers but otherwise it was the usual 2 mile loop.
There were a few people out at the lake but the trail was empty except for me and plenty of lizards.
The trail was very uneven and up and down with very few level spots but I managed to run it well until I crossed over the dry wash and began the twisting ascent for the return loop.
Here my legs began to tire and eventually I slowed to a walk and called it a run after 2 miles.
From there I hiked/jogged the rest of the way (another hilly 2 miles) but I felt pretty good overall and it was great to be out running the trails.
We have a dog transport to Holbrook tomorrow afternoon so it will be an off day.
