The heat just keeps on coming here in central Arizona so Lulu and I took a trip up the the Snowbowl in the mountains above Flagstaff to enjoy much cooler weather and a wonderful hike among the wildflowers and tall pines.
The trails radiate around the ski slopes with a long one winding up to the top of Mt Humphreys. We took an easier route across the green slopes and into the quiet and shaded forest as the narrow trail made a twisting climb up the mountain.
After a couple of miles the trail became much more rocky and steeper so much so that Lulu was having a tougher time climbing up and over the numerous rocks.
We headed back down and diverted onto another trail in the forest that brought us out onto the slopes a bit lower than our initial mile before looping back up to the busy trailhead.
It was a tiring hike for us with the climbing at the much higher altitude but the mountain scenery was simply fantastic. We had a great time and I hope we can return in the fall when the aspens turn bright yellow.
