We enjoyed a nice long hike up along the Granite Basin trails on another 90 plus degree day here in Prescott. Fortunately, the several hundred foot elevation gain kept the temperature a bot more comfortable and the pine trees provided some decent shade.
This area is usually much less crowded than Lynx or Goldwater Lakes and much better for a quiet and tranquil hike (we met no other people out on the trails today).
We started off heading out towards the base of Granite Mountain where we would branch off and wind through the forest before joining up with the very familiar Metate Trail.
Lulu got to chase a couple of distant squirrels (although they were quickly up in the tall trees and driving Lulu crazy with their angry chattering) and themiles went by nicely and easily before we finished up at the very beautiful lake where Lulu had her happy dip and splash.
