A beautiful mid October day over at Lynx Lake with Lulu for a couple of hours of hiking and just enjoying the wonderful outdoors.
Lulu was ready to go for our 2 mile morning walk right off the bat first thing first was some ☕coffee for me. After that she was way out on the point cruising along while I happily kept up behind her. We kept up a steady walk on the dirt loop section and only paused for a bit when Lulu spotted a family of deer walking across the road ahead of us.
Then it was off to Lynx for some time in the Prescott National Forest on this gorgeous day. Since it was Wednesday it was free parking and it was good to see a fairly nice number of cars there already (more friends for Lulu to meet).
Thankfully there was a nice gentle breeze off of the lake which made it very comfortable but some gentle rain would really be beneficial to the drying landscape.
We started off headed out on a clockwise direction around the eastern side of the lake which took us over the rocky, narrow and twisting dirt trail. We crossed paths with several other people walking their dogs which slowed me a bit but Lulu really likes to cruise along on these trails - except for that occasional quick dip and sip.
The highlight of the day was when a beautiful male Bald Eagle flew overhead while we rested for a bit at the Southside part of the lake. Unfortunately my phone camera wasn't set so all I could do was get a few distant photos of its mate(?) as it flew around overhead.
We headed off on a side dirt trail for a mile before resuming our hike along the western side of the lake on the easy paved path.
From there it was a nice quick mile jaunt enjoying the lake scene while Lulu got plenty of attention from passing walkers.
A strong hike of almost 4 miles with my good little (and now tired) pup and it was time for a bit of a picnic lunch before heading home and wrapping up a great day.

Really wish I could have snapped the male eagle but he didn't circle back. First Bald Eagle I've seen in years as it's mostly Red Tails arouind here.
