Awesome.
I planted 2’ White Pine Seedlings about 10 years ago ….
They will grow 2’- to 4’ each year and can reach over 100 ’ tall.
I planted 10 of these and within 5 years they were over 10 ’ tall. I learned how to prune the new candles each year and maintain a 10 ’ White Pine Hedge.
It was an experiment … they probably would prefer to grow to 100 ’ but our neighbors might not be too happy when the branches start falling off .
White pines are one of my favorite trees!
It’s been a while since I’ve needed to prune the Candles, most are Fully matured now.
I look forward to these trees growing on my 5 acres of forest!🤗
Yes. I love the smell of Pine… needles and mulch. They are great to keep the weeds out. Very acidic. The Blueberry plants also love the acidic soil so they are a great planting pear. White pines + Blueberries.
This is my garden now ….
8 best plants for acidic soil :
Wild azalea (Rhododendron canescens) ...
Highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) ...
Evergreen magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) ...
White dogwood (Cornus alba) ...
Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides) ...
Wax begonia (Begonia semperflorens) ...
Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) ...
Japanese Pieris (Pieris japonica)
Very good to know!
I knew about the blueberries, but not the other plants! Thanks for the info!!😀
