Hey Actifitters,
After our moderately intense hiking days, yesterday was just an easy-going day, with the only fixed objective to reach Las Vegas in the evening. The night before, we started exploring a bit the small city where we stayed, Williams, Arizona.
Typical small place along the Historic Route 66, lots of diners and gifts/souvenirs shops.
This inn was interesting. It used to be a brothel many many years ago, and it was renovated into an inn with only 4 rooms. Pretty cool, and it's supposed to be haunted!
This hotel is also supposed to have ghosts, it wasn't in our price range unfortunately.
In the morning, we explored a bit more. It's very small, just a few blocks, so it doesn't take long. Lots of weird stuff...
There's also the train you can ride all the way to Grand Canyon. Also too expensive for our budget unfortunately, and probably more time-consuming than just driving.
Since we were already on historic Route 66, we decided to follow it for a while. It added just about half an hour to the plain highway route. So we left Williams behind and headed to Seligman, AZ.
Pretty much the same idea there, but smaller and maybe even more gift shops.
Lots of stuff for old cars lovers too.
Our next and last stop on Route 66 was Kingman. Bigger city but the historic part wasn't too big. We had a milk shake at Mr. D'z diner before getting back on the road.
We made one more stop before reaching Las Vegas: Hoover Dam and the Lake Mead views.
The dam is pretty impressive from the bridge.
And the opposite is true as well.
And finally Las Vegas. Like I already said, I'm not too much into Las Vegas vibe, but it was fun to see it one more time, and walk along the Strip. We started at the Bellagio and its iconic fountains show.
As expected, huge hotel/casinos everywhere, and lots of people!
And that was pretty much it. One more hotel night and we will fly back home the next day. No more hiking...
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
PS: I realized too late that all this walking around got me pretty close to the bar for @poprzeczka. I probably could have made it with just a few more minutes. Not sure I'll be able to make it any longer in April session.
