Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday was one of these Saturdays we didn't have anything planned and we could just relax. After a late start, we slowly got ready for our daily walk with Kaia. Recently, I haven't seen as much mushrooms as we used to a few weeks ago. Maybe all these storms destroyed many of them. So I wasn't planning a mushrooms hunt, but even before we arrived in the forest, I noticed these:
At first, I didn't pay attention and we just continued till our favorite entrance, where I noticed more trees fell down.
Soon after, I noticed something else:
And so many of these:
I took it as a sign, today will be a mushrooms hunt 🍄 . I guess even if we still have a few minutes before it's Monday here, that can be a #MushroomMonday post. Note that I don't know anything about mushrooms, so if you want to let me know what all of these are, I will not be offended, just the opposite actually.
But going through the area where all the trees came down, clearly no mushrooms in sight.
Great place for Kaia to run off-leash and climb on the wood piles though.
And that's when the mushrooms festival resumed. Some colorful ones first.
Some more common ones, we see similar ones very often:
Interesting shapes on this rotting tree branch.
This one was strange, with some kind of sap dripping on it.
I was also surprised to find some of these strange things again, so beautiful!
I have no idea what is so special about the conditions this year, but we saw them multiple times. I had never seen them before, in all the years I walked these woods. It is true though that I've gotten much better at spotting things, like this one hidden between two branches and some leaves.
I'm sure there were plenty more (I also have several dozen more photos!), but at some point we just finished our walk, simply enjoying the forest.
On the way back, we met this cute squirrel. It almost seemed as though he was taunting Kaia. Her ears went up when she saw it first, but that was it, no more reaction! Too tired. Normally that would be a good thing: like I often say, a tired dog is a good dog! But in this case, it was probably just too much for Kaia. I said I would let her rest more for a few weeks, but we probably overdid it this time.
Back at home, while I was having my espressos in the deck, she didn't move at all.
And Le Chat apparently was in one of her moods again!
I left them both at home while I went for a run, the first one in ages. A very slow one but that felt good! When I came back, a couple of deer had invaded my backyard. They didn't even flee when I went inside to get my phone.
Eventually they left, and I let Kaia out. She knew something happened!
And that was it. For a relaxed Saturday, it was actually more active than I thought. It's not visible on the steps though, because I never carry my phone when I run. Even better weather on the Sunday forecast, let's see what happens in my report tomorrow.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
