It is tough to project out twenty years for a return on investment. I'm not even sure this area will be a good place to live in another twenty years. I would expect that the price of electricity would go down if the government is halfway serious about addressing the climate issue and inflation. It is difficult to figure out a good course of action at this time.

Exactly… are you looking at a grid tied Solar Power system that sells Electricity back to the government ? You sign these 20 year contracts at a certain price ( .20 cents per kwhr) and you still have to pay the electricity bill that keeps increasing …

I think that a grid-tied solar system would make the best choice. Batteries are changing so fast that I'm not sure I want to invest in them. (Besides the ones I've already purchased.) I'm not sure about all the details around contracts to sell the power and what it takes to get started though. I need to talk to some companies that do the installations or do more research if I'm serious about moving forward with installing solar.
