I took a few days off and expected that I might be playing disc golf better today, but that was not the case. My friend and I had a +23 on today's round, and my other friend won with a +13.
I was struggling a bit with my throws off of the tee. I also lost a new to me disc that my friend gave me this morning. The first throw went nicely, but on the second throw, I turned it too hard, and it went right into some bramble bushes. It was a light wieght Mamba disc, and it turned out to be more flippy than usual. Sometimes, you really need to be careful when throwing the Mamba, especially if it is an older beat in disc. I was a little upset after losing the disc, but my friend seemed fine. He had got it used for a good price and was not worried about it.
A bit later in the round, I underpowered the Tern disc, and it faded into the edge of the bramble patch. Those wider rimmed discs can be tough to get the right amount of power and angle on. I knew exactly where it landed, and when I searched for it, I found my Catalyst disc I had lost weeks before. After that, I found the Tern disc a few feet away. It was really lucky.
I had lost the Catalyst disc on hole thirteen and had searched for it there several times. I ended up finding it on hole fifteen. As near as I can guess, someone had found it and tried it out a couple of holes later and lost it in the bramble bushes.
It is nice to get it back, but it is not a disc I can throw very well. It is a bit too flippy, and the wide rim makes it harder to get just the right release angle on it. Still, it is a fun disc to throw and sometimes results in massive distance if you get it right.
What it looked like today out on the disc golf course:
