I played most of an eighteen hole practice round of disc golf today with Doggie tagging along. He likes to take a dip in the river just after hole six. It was a bit hot today, but nothing too bad.
I lost a disc on hole thirteen and spent some time searching for it. It was a newer disc that I was not particularly fond of, so no worries. It was a bit too flippy for a distance driver for me, and I had to worry a lot about turning it over in different wind conditions. On hole thirteen you need to clear a bit of a hill so I thought the disc would be okay for the throw but there was just enough wind to get under the disc and turn it into some bushes and trees.
Usually, an understable disc is fine for the throw, but this was too understable and turned way to the right. If I get another Catalyst disc, I might try it in a more stable plastic or heavier weight. It is a fun disc to throw, but the rim felt a bit sharp and wide.
Next time I am at the course, I might look for it some more if I don't have Doggie or other friends around.
