Hospital Operation

in zapata •  4 years ago

We have a date for hubby's hernia operation, 28th Oct, he will then be on the sick for around 6 weeks, for 4 weeks he can't do anything, he has to sit and not life a thing giving the mesh they use to keep the hernia in place. He has his pre op on Friday, then it's full steam ahead to get some money in the bank to help cover us for 6 weeks.. It's not going to be fun. I am happy that they have given hubby 4 weeks notice, probably down to the virus, this gives us 4 weeks to put money aside.

It's going to be a few hard weeks but thankfully with this Virus we will stay in the house and get by. It's what we all have to do when we go through hard time. Me and hubby have been through quite a few and came out the other end still in tact. I will be glad once they sort hubby out, he has suffered with pain and being uncomfortable, he probably would have managed better if his job wasn't hands on, on his feet all day, its heavy work being a bricklayer.

He has had to cope with the pain whilst working, he can't take many pain killers as with him working on an building site he has to stay alert. He can't wear any support at work as he needs to bend down. We have started using exercise tape to strap him up every morning to keep his hernia in place and not loose. At bedtime he wears a hernia support that give him some relief at night time.

This keeps everything in place and gives him some relief from the pain. He can't wait until he can sleep without it and no more pain. He will have to sit for 4 weeks after doing nothing at all, it's all going to be down to me and my daughter. Before he goes into hospital we are going to give the house a good clean and tidy plus sort the small room out so he can sleep in there as he won't be able to sleep with the dogs incase the jump on him.

We have a lot of work to do to make the 6 weeks as easy as possible for all of us, everything in its place, everything cleaned plus a good shop to build up the heavy items. Nichola will have to do all the dog walks, feeding the fish and carrying the shopping, its going to be fun.
